Turkey is not planning to buy SU-25. But Turkey might produce SU-25s with Georgia and marketing it to other countries like azerbijan, ozbeksitan etc.

I wish people stop comparing Akinci with fully fledged CAS planes or bomber jets like A10 or F4 or Su 25.
Su25 is a fast (close to 0.8mach) plane that can carry 6400kg of ammunition. It has 2 x 9900lbf thrust turbojet engines, and operates at 25000ft to ground level.
Akinci is not a ground attack plane. It is an unmanned drone that can carry a limited number of missiles and ammo, and with the lack of human factor in the equation, it can give an edge to our air power projection. It is slow and it’s performance would be hindered greatly at high altitudes. It is definitely not a CAS plane. But with modern electronics and precision guided weapons can be an invaluable asset in it’s own right.
If we go back to SU25 planes of Georgia; We will see that Georgians can build the planes. But the engine parts will have to come from France, Italy and UK, whilst the modern electronics and avionics will be supplied by Israel.
Where a SU25 fits in TurAF is a mystery to me. So I would take this so called news, with a pinch of salt. Especially as we are in the process of building a potential CAS plane in the form of Hurjet; Albeit smaller and lighter than a SU25. But much more advanced, faster and agile.

Tbilisi factory hasn't manufactured any platform from scratch since the collapse of the Soviet Union, just look at the state of factory, all it does it maintenance and upgrades nowadays. Plus Turkey has no need for aircraft such as Su-25 with UCAVs such as Akinci coming into service.

The numbers seem off. We do have Su-25s but they are fairly old not recent acquisitions. Armenia claimed to have shot down 2 in last year's war when they were supposedly flying over Armenia itself but haven't provided any evidence of either. We're pretty much exclusively buying from Western sources now since the Azerbaijani army has enough Soviet surplus stuff lying in warehouses in case we need to quickly arm the average citizen for an invasion or something.

Boeing want to keep super hornet lines open. If Turkey is interested in this aircraft to replace F-4's, Boeing may lobby the congress to approve sales. Still pretty unlikely though.

"In the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act, which the House and Senate armed services committees jointly released on Tuesday, the Air Force will be allowed to retire more than 160 legacy aircraft of other types, helping to free up funding for new technologies."

A House aide that spoke with Breaking Defense confirmed that — aside from a prohibition on retiring the A-10 — the Air Force will be permitted to retire all the aircraft it proposed to divest in its FY22 budget request.

That list includes:
- 47 F-16C/D
- 48 F-15C/D
- 4 E-8 JSTARS
- 20 RQ-4 Global Hawk
- 18 KC-135
- 14 KC-10
- 13 C-130H

One could add the 47 F-16 to the newest order of 40 B70 and 80 Mods, in order to expand the ÖZGÜR Modernization from 35 to 82 F-16s.

The F15s would likely be too expensive to operate.

Give me 20 RQ Globies and 4 E-8 Jstars, this will upgrade our airforce to the next level.

Why are they retiring 20 Global Hawks? Jstars are old, probably they are going for a newer SIGINT plane.

Hakan Kılıç says USA doesn't sell F-15X to Turkey unless Turkey accept terms like not to use them in operations abroad e.g . Libya and that's why we didn't buy F-15s but instead wanted F-16-Block 70s

I watched a video where the USA planned on selling A10s to the Turkish air force but it never materialised. Also comment sections mentioned the F14 dont know how legit it is.

Nonetheless its interesting.
