Why are there so few mosques in Greece and Turkey has hundreds of churches if not thousands of them?

Greeks destroyed them.

We also home their pope. Since Mehmed the conqueror freed him in 1453 and gave him back his titles and status within the Christian world. Cathlics basically treated orthodox christians as no more then slaves.

How does the Turkish and Ottoman state officially recognize the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople since 1453?

Since we speak for numbers, in your state, in 2009, there were 236 churches open for worship of 200.000-300.000 Christians in Turkey.
Christianity in Turkey has had a long history dating back to the 1st-century AD. In modern times the percentage of Christians in Turkey has declined from 25% in 1914 to 5% t in 1927, to 0.3 % today.

In Greece, there are 256 mosques only in Thrace for 95.000 Muslims.

According to official data, there are 3 legally active mosques in Greece:
Votanikos Mosque (Attica)
Yeni Mosque (Komotini)
Eski Mosque (Komotini)
The Votanikos mosque opened on November 3, 2020 and has a capacity of 500 people for men and 50 people for women with a construction cost of 887,000 euros. It is the first official mosque in operation in the Greek capital since the Greek Revolution of 1821. All other buildings presented as mosques are buildings either illegal or legal that open and close according to the orders of the Greek State. The only places of worship that existed legally in Attica were in the consulates of Muslim countries. The population of legal Muslims in Attica reaches 200,000 according to official figures while 120,000-140,000 Muslims live in Western Thrace + 500,000 illegal Muslim immigrants living in Greece. That is, we are talking about a population that reaches 820,000-840,000 people. Today in the greater area of Athens and the Attica region there are about 40 organized mosques (Arabic and Asian) and about 120 smaller places of worship that are offered for daily prayer to all Muslim immigrants. To these mosques and places of Muslim worship, are added the legal and illegal mosques of Western Thrace, which in total may exceed 235 and are distributed as follows: 131 in Rodopi, 83 in Xanthi and 21 in the prefecture of Evros. The total number of illegal mosques and places of Muslim worship in Greece is around 600, with a percentage of one mosque per 1.400 Muslims. The ratio is at a good level if we compare that in Turkey there is one mosque per 1027 inhabitants(82.693 mosques) and in Saudi Arabia one mosque per 370 inhabitants(94.000 mosques). There are officially 200,000-320,000 Christians in Turkey, while there are around 349 churches operating throughout Turkey, of which 140 are Greek, 58 Assyrian and 52 Armenian. This makes us proportionally 1 church for 916 Christians. It is obvious that the ratio is at better levels in Turkey for Christians than in Greece for Muslims. Also the number of churches in Turkey is official and state recognized while in Greece the 600 places of worship of Muslims are illegal with the exception of the three mosques i mention above. The minority schools where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey claims that they have closed are confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece as it justifies this reduction in three categories:
1) Reduction of the number of children (low birth rate) in the villages
2) Migration of rural people to big cities
3) Reduction of operating costs
From 2002 to 2019, the number of students in the minority schools of Western Thrace has decreased by 40% according to the data in the hands of the competent bodies of the Ministry of Education, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece confirms that 120,000 Muslim citizens live in Western Thrace of(+ 50,000 Pomaks) out of the 371,000 registered citizens in total. That is, almost 50% of the population is not of Greek origin and in fact most are of Turkish origin. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that the minority villages are over 100 in total, but according to the data from previous years, the minority schools were much more. For example, in the 2002-2003 academic year, 6,683 children attended 221 minority primary schools (page 28 of the journal Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations Volume 17 Issue 1).

Your source is not the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece but the article of the lieutenant general of the Armed Forces Fotiadis Ioannis. Also, this officer is a former Deputy Chief of the National Guard of Cyprus & former Vice President of the Panhellenic Federation of Thracian Associations.
The letter of the President of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece & Mayor of Trikala, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou, to the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, regarding the transformation of Hagia Sophia into a mosque. The information you provide is from an article by an officer on a site. I have taken this information from a specific bibliography which is at the end of my comment so that everyone can see it.

Once again, they create a thread based on fake and fallacious information, circlejerk themselves in their echochambers and as soon as you debunk them with indisputable facts that they themselves can't debunk ; not only do they change the subject but they actually act like you are the one who lost the argument and are inferior.

The article you published with this information was completely different!
You mentioned your source to me before yourself. However, opening the article, i did not find any position from the President of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou.
The official list of the 256 mosques in Western Thrace was published somewhere? Does Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou count the illegal mosques in operation in the region of Western Thrace? If so then we agree that indeed it may be so! Let Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou give some details above so that we ordinary readers can see where these outrageous numbers come from! I also mentioned that in Greece there are 600 mosques operating illegally, citing the corresponding source. In the wider area of Athens and Attica, a total of 160 mosques operate illegally. This does not mean that there are 160 mosques in Athens, officially 1 exists! And because i searched a little more for the operation of mosques in Western Thrace, which is difficult because there is no relevant information from the Greek State, a total of 11 mosques operate in the area according to the official tourist guide Eastern Macedonia & Thrace. This tourist guide is supported by the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, while it was co-financed by Greece and the EU through the NSRF operational program(National Strategic Reference Framework) in the period 2007-2013 for the development of the region at a cost of 4.2 billion euros.
The mosques that operate for religious and tourist purposes are the following:
1) Sünne Camii (Xanthi) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in quite good condition.
2) Arap Mosque (Drama) => The renovation until August 2020 (because it was a ruin) was financed by a private company of Drama while it will operate as a place of cultural events and not as a place of prayer.
3) Kasaba Mosque (Genisea) => It functions as a monument and not as a place of prayer while it is in a miserable condition, almost abandoned although architecturally very nice. Immediate funding is needed for the restoration of the mosque.
4) Achrian Mosque (Xanthi) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in quite good condition.
5) Servili Mosque (Xanthi) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in a moderate condition.
6) Tsinar Mosque (Xanthi) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in quite good condition.
7) Mouchatzir Camii (Xanthi) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in very good condition since it was renovated in 2018.
8) Eski Mosque (Komotini) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in very good condition.
9) Yeni Mosque (Komotini) => It functions as a place of prayer while it is in very good condition.
10) Tekes of Kizil Deli (Soufli) => It functions as a monument and place of religious events, among them the feast of the memory of St. George, a common feast for Christians and Alevis.
11) Beyazit Mosque (Didymoticho) => It functioned as a monument until 2017 when a fire broke out on the roof, there is a plan to rebuild it. The Secretary General of Culture of Greece, Lina Mendoni, characterized this monument as the most important mosque of Islam in Europe.

What are these 256 mosques that operate in Western Thrace? I only found 7(5 in Xanthi & 2 in Komotini) that are for prayer!
Unless the specific person counts the monuments as places of prayer......!
According to Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou:
"The model of peaceful and creative coexistence of Greek Muslims and Christian citizens in Thrace (in which there are currently 256 mosques) and the respect by the Greek State of the temples and cultural monuments of every religious community, throughout the country, proves the firm commitment of our local communities, of universal values. Every modern State must respect and promote these values."
The following article mentions the following:
Characteristically, we can mention the New Mosque (Geni Mosque), the Old Mosque (Eski Mosque) in Komotini, the Sunne Mosque in Xanthi, the Vayazit Mosque in Didymoteicho (for which the restoration procedures were started directly by the Greek State the fire of '17).

We all know these mosques mentioned in the article as an example, as well as the other mosques that i mentioned with my own official source.
The fact that this man says that there are 256 mosques for prayer in Western Thrace shows that the people want to pray and the state is sitting idly by without formalizing any new mosque. The same applies to Athens! This thing is called successful state planning? It probably looks to me like a sloppiness of the Greek state.

I found your article after you finally sent me the right one .....!
You did not answer the questions from the article, however, I am still waiting for a detailed list of the 256 mosques in Western Thrace. My information about the mosques comes from the official travel guide of Macedonia and Thrace, which in turn are taken from the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Read a little better what the other writes please.....!
Your own sources ....?

Permission to build a future place of worship 139 square meters was granted to the Municipality of Myki Xanthi for the village Zoumbouli by decision of the Secretary General of Religions George Kalantzis according to the publication on July 29, 2020. There is no mosque in the village Zoumbouli while the new building will not place of worship for a start, also in the village of Myki there is a large mosque which is not licensed for prayer!
In the village of Echinos where it belongs to the Municipality of Myki Xanthi there is the Theological School (Medreses of Sahin) while it is one of the two hierarchical schools that exist in Western Thrace, the other is the Medreses of Komotini. Also the village of Echinos has three religious places of which 2 are Muslim (Karatza Ahmet & Tekke Mosque) and 1 is Christian Orthodox (Agios Georgios). The tekke is not an official place of prayer while the specific ones function as places of prayer only on religious holidays (eg Ramadan).
Can you send me something worth reading? Every time I read from you things are completely distorted and this is not in line with the terms of the forum. Thanks
