Dunno how to feel about this... F110's will be powering the prototypes. Wouldn't Pakistan need to integrate a Chinese power unit in order to fly their own TF-X fighters (if the program is merged) ASAP? There is no way we are selling them TF-X's with American engines installed. I feel like there are gonna be lots if mishaps and delays concerning the development of the national engine. I don't expect to see an operational 5th gen engine in the next 20 years or so. I'm fine with them showing interest in the program and buying the product at a later date, however them being a literal partner right now? I don't know about that. That puts the western support at risk. In short, we risk losing the F110's.

except akp fans, people with logic do not want pakistan to join this project. They should join after this project get materialized and engine issue solved, not now!!

It all depends on how much money they pay bro. Expect anything. Pakistan could buy %50 rights to MMU at the moment.

Not sure if they have that kind of cash though

They are talking about the cooperation of TAI and the Pakistani University NUST. Were exactly did they mention the merge of the two projects?

As it was said in the 22nd minute, it is very likely that TFX and AZM are separate projects. Since Pakistani institutes and TAI's engineering office in Pakistan also contributed to the project, Kotil seems cute by calling it Turkish-Pakistani fighter.

Turkey will employ engineers who have studied and graduated from Pakistan's best university and will include them in major projects. TAI's roadmap has a target of 10000 engineers and 10000 technicians by 2028. Therefore, qualified personnel are transferred not only from Western countries such as Germany England but also from countries such as Pakistan and Malaysia. Pakistan on the other hand will use the sensor subsystems developed by Turkey for TfX and benefit from aircraft test facilities including wind tunnels, anechoic chamber, RCS test, fuel test, iron bird, litening test facilities...etc for its own projects. That's the extent of the cooperation. There is no such thing as being a partner of TFX for any country at present. Only a financial partner can be accepted for a project that has started the production of 2200 major fuselage block parts and the assembly phase will start in a few months.

What do you guys think about having such fighters (Chinese FC-31) as a stop-gap until the TFX is ready
Rumors indicate that China is offering preparing domestic assembly lines for the countries interested in obtaining such an aircraft; couple that with its cheap price and I think it would be a decent stop-gap for Turkey until TFX roll-out

Opinions?

The interim solution is the MIUS and other jet powered UCAV.
We only need to make sure that we have engines for it.

No.

Such a endeavor would only be an option if Turkey was hellbent on disconnecting itself completely from the West (NATO and EU).
Also they would need to sweeten the deal up a lot. Domestic Assembly wouldn't do it. ToT, Integration of ingenious avionics, suits, weapons.

Right now if the F-16/F-35 aren't coming the focus will be on Hürjet, TF-X and MIUS.

İsmail Demir listed the alternatives in the National Combat Aircraft engine:

- F-16 engine will be used in the first stage
- We have an alternative engine source
- Our domestic design work continues
- Good point has been reached in engine development with Rolls Royce

Ismail Demir: "we had the possibility of working with Rolls-Royce for the national engine. We had some concerns here, and we resolved these concerns as a result of the meetings we held. The work has begun.”

EJ-200 and GE F110 are of different class.

You cannot say if not F110 we will use EJ-200 in TFx, they have complete different sizes and diameters

EJ200 could be an alternative to the F404 used in Hurjet

Rolls-Royce offered a modified EJ-200 the first time around before talks fell through because of BMC participation in the project.

This alternative could be this modified EJ-200.

If US blocks the F110 then sacrifices might need to be made for the Programm to continue.

If you are thinking Russian engines. I would drop that. Soon Russia won’t even be able to produce engines for its own fighters.

and china is a no-go zone.
