They are using Turkey to save time in case of war. Also If we wanted to remove nukes. First thing is to deploy them in Greece as an alternative. Then we need our own deterrence weapon capability against Russian and Western aggression. Best is to have capable infrastructure to build such under short time like Japan, Korea. Sadly, there is no economic, political, public will in Turkey pull this off yet. Unless we become cornered. We only do things when we are cornered, last second.

It's funny, I posted maybe a hundred or two hundred pages back about how Russian military doctrine is essentially "bomb enemy then rush your armor and infantry divisions forward as fast as possible" and how this strategy makes them extremely vulnerable if the enemy defenses are still standing firm and they walk right into a death trap where their armor and infantry are getting blown up by the dozens.

And would you guess it, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT ENDED UP HAPPENING.
