Just imagine the amount of chemicals and CO2 emitted to produce just one such battery. Forget about the whole car or the energy it will use etc. But yeah... long live the Green Revolution. :D

yeah actually you need to drive ~170k Km to be neutral

if you change the batteries and use coal energy like in turkey its quite obvious that this is not green..

also you need to build up the energy grid for charging imagine after sunset people driving home and charging their car let only be 500.000 cars at once..

thats why it needs much more of investment in this field than building up just a car everything behind it must be build too that will cost co2 money and hard work.. in germany they began to explode the costs of everything so that they can pay it.. more energy costs more fuel costs even food and they also think to make it much more expensive.. I am really thinking about using my coding skills to do some really dirt illegal stuff to get me paid and ready for all that loss.. I also started to skip work for that..

my opinion is we need fuel cells! immediatly and not only for cars but also for buildings! there should have been much more investemts! methanol fuel cell for excample is a really good ready proven energy source! but I like hydrogen more because its "cleaner" but unfortually more complicated! still we should have that both or all 3 for the future.. but there will be nothing of fuel cell cars in turkey because they just try to copy what is on the market regardless if it is logical or not.. fuel cell technology is also important for military projects.. imagine if you are at war and every house has fuel cell technology you will not run out of energy in a short time because many are decentralisized..

Im wondering how they are going to get recycled.
dont wonder african can do it they have enough children! europeans are gonna send it there giving work for them..

There are three issues with EV, some were already mentioned by @neosinan

Charging: if your grid is based on burning coal, you might as well continue driving a diesel. But grids get greener over time and gasoline and diesel will always be fossil.
Raw materials: toxic materials leak into the nature, water consumption -> serious issue but not one that cant be managed. I'd rather have landfills with toxic waste (i know still bad) rather than continuing to burn oil.
Recycling of the batteries: can be solved and is, there are many secondary uses nowadays especially in combination with renewable energy sources.



And regarding the "you need to drive 150k km before a EV is better than a classic diesel/gasoline car" BS: that's plain wrong, excuse the German source but a VW e-Golf will surpass a also very efficient Toyota Prius 1.8 l Hybrid within 28k km in terms of energy efficiency etc. And thats all things considered. So you need to drive it around 28km or for me 1,5 years in order to match the traditional engine and then you're neutral as fuck.

The project application titled "Using High Performance Supercapacitors Containing Mesostructured Gel Electrolytes in Automotive Applications", carried out in partnership with SUNUM, ITU and TEMSA Skoda, was entitled to be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1702 Patent-Based Technology Transfer Call (1702 Patent License 2021-2). With the support of TÜBİTAK 1702, Supercapacitor technology will be developed to increase battery performance in hybrid and diesel vehicles.

According to the results of the TÜBİTAK 1702 Patent-Based Technology Transfer Call, "Liquid Crystalline Mesophases for High Performance Energy Storage Systems", one of the full-time researchers of SUNUM, Dr. Yurdanur Türker, one of the technical experts of SUNUM, Dr. Koray Bahadır Dönmez, ITU faculty member and SUNUM part-time researcher Prof. Dr. Seniha Güner, ITU faculty member Prof. Dr. The technology of our inventor team, consisting of Nilgün Karatepe Yavuz and ITU doctoral student Mert Umut Özkaynak, has been awarded the right to be supported by TÜBİTAK.

Siro, founded on September 27, 2021, as a joint venture between Togg and Farasis Energy, will develop energy storage solutions for automotive and non-automotive applications for the Turkish and neighboring markets, and is poised to become a major-league player with an annual production capacity of 20 GWh including battery cells.

Siro will initially develop and produce battery modules and packs in Turkey as of 2022. Siro will be providing its energy storage solutions globally and will be directly responsible for 120 countries including Turkey, where it will offer battery solutions for use in the automotive industry, as well as energy storage solutions to support renewable energy, power grids, charging stations and residential buildings.



Additionally the mobility transformation Center and Client Testing area has started Construction

It is not enough to have mineral reserves.
1- High production capacity
2- Quality purification technology is required
Currently, there is not enough production capacity to meet Turkey's needs.

Nickel and cobalt precious metals for batteries are more than enough to satisfy our current and future needs. We are very lucky to have cobalt Tesla bought mines in Africa for the cobalt supply.
Manganese is also everywhere around the world.
Our lithium reserves can only satisfy half of our current consumption and I don't think that ratio will improve in the future.
We have more than enough rare earth element deposits again very lucky to have those deposits.
The natural gas situation will only improve from this point on. Oil will continue to be a real problem.

We need to process what we have with our technology. If we do that we will be fine.

For oil we can get hydrocarbon rights in countries that are open to investment like Nigeria, Libya, Somalia and possible others.

EV have a long way to go when it comes to cold temperatures. Once AC is running and the battery is cold the maximum range of my car for example drops to 50-60%.
