Russian paratrooper debacle reminds me of the battle of crete in ww2 where the German paratroopers suffered heavy casualties in a stupid suicide mission without any proper support.

To make matters worse none of the German troops had their weapons as their weapon crates were someplace elsewhere in Crete.

Elite of the elite means shit if you cant support them properly also expending them in stupid suicide missions.

Just Pick A Fighter And Start Training Ukrainian Pilots On It As Soon As Possible

Ukraine's pilots should have been in training yesterday and there are plenty of second-hand fighter options to accommodate their needs.

My best bet is F-16. It's cheap, its economical, it has a lot of user base. The Block 30/32 - 50/52 are good enough to face off anything RuAF has to offer with maybe the exception of the SU-57. Next is the Gripen followed by the F-18 (especially ex-Kuwait ones).

If this war is to continue for long, the West must consider training Ukrainian pilots in one of those models. Combat atrition will favor RuAF in the long run.

Ukrainian officials reported heavy shelling in eastern Ukraine Friday amid an apparent shift by Russia to redirect military efforts to the region.

Military analysts on news channels are basically saying that the plan behind Russia’s so-called “special military operation” is to build a much desired “land bridge” to Crimea, in order to eliminate any logistics challenges. The UK put forth similar claims in conflict reports.

West expects a major rise in clashes along the eastern border, in and around Mariupol and Kherson…

EDIT: It will be a tragicomical ending to the conflict, if the fuss was all about Crimea from the very beginning!

Their ambition was a quick decisive war and regime change, they failed spectacularly. Now they are looking for a way out that can be sold as a victory to the Russian people.

It is absolutely true that the Russian military might somehow fail to live up to expectations in Ukraine. Russian command has been making fatal mistakes that cost them a great deal. However, we seem to be carried away (way too much) by the Ukranian will to resist, and overwhelming success in pockets of resistance. Question is, does it really justify comments in the media (popping like mushrooms nowadays) that Russia is the loser in this conflict?

No doubts about it, every nation who has issues with Russia feels good seeing this disaster. I have no doubts that Turkey feels much better moving forward seeing how inept and comical the Russian military is.

The bear would not care less about her losses in this conflict, or any other conflict, for as long as the goal is achieved. Otherwise the dead would not be prey to wild beasts out in the fields.
