SS-109 ammo was require a certain minimum speed for the fragmentation within the target which requires a long barrel (aka 20” barrel of M-16). New ammunition don’t need this.
True, but note it also has much higher pressure which reduces life of barrel and chamber on much shorter barrels even more.

SiG rifle/MG and the ammo itself are just utter garbage compared to the other projects, everybody who know about small arms just say the same thing: SiG provided more hookers to win

for example
The SIG Spear is based on the MCX which is in my opinion the most modular and up to date rifle, it's like Lego for grown up men.

It has nice AR controls, short stroke piston, adjustable gasblock, unique bolt carrier/action, it doesn't need a buffer tube therefore collapsible buttstock, modularity where you can swap barrel or even change the calibre within minutes and build something for different tasks.

...and heavier than the rifle they replace, the ammo they provided didn't meat the full specification and barely achieved any of the requirements and much more expensive than the other contesters, heck the ammo is even heavier than the 7.62x51!....it's a cluster f?=)CK

1 Short term saving 2 Zero current actual production capability 3 Likelly doesn't meet penetration requirements 4 It's heavy as fuck 5 Price WILL balloon 6 Kick the ones actually inovating 7 Get sweet kickback 8 ??? 9 profit!

yeah so the key takeaway here is that the program's goal was to cross the finish line, it wasn't to make sure that the best overall system won

p.s. plz don't compare SiG US with SiG germany...their QC is very bad

they just won because their bid was the lowest...bir de daha iyi hatunları ismarladılar

sry for the off topic, but this is like the USN LCS program....they are currently takin a lot of those out of service, because they are literally broken and of no use and always havin problems with their reduction gears/engine because of the ridicoulous +40 kn requirement....they just print money and have to use these somehow to throw away the money for BS projects...just like this new rifle program....the grifting is immense here

Ian Mccollum from forgotten weapons talked about this at a gunshow he said he would be shocked if the US military replace the M4s and M16s with a new weapon with a new round.

Because for decades the USA not only imposed the 5.56mm round on nato for decades they have been trying to replace the M4 and the M16.

With nunerous failed programs and tests like the OICW, M8 Assault rifle, 90s assault rifle tests that included the steyr acr and the hk g11.

Do Medium velocity 40mm rounds have direct impact anti-material capability?

Or is there any chance we could see Turkish direct impact grenade in various calibers?

İt would be great to waste Toyota 4x4 with Dochka's.

Peshmerges use 20mm direct-fire grenades against ISIS suicide cars.

Does anybody know what this muzzle device that MKE is using on Kaan 717 and TLS 571 is, and what does it exactly do?

The official accounts of the Brazilian military police on social networks spread images of exercises, operations, and training of their troops.

In this regard, the shared photos clearly show the Turkish infantry rifles KCR556 and KCR762, which Ankara exported to South America through Kale Kalip. The semi-automatic 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm KCR556 and KCR762, which were exported in 2020, are used effectively in the field.

About the KCR556 infantry rifle

The KCR-556 infantry rifle is specially manufactured for the needs of the special units and the special operations group. The KCR-556 has a modular design that allows you to adapt the desired functions in a very short time. Thanks to its advantageous structure, used with all types of military materials and ammunition, it can adapt to any environmental conditions.

The KCR556 works with a rotating head and a short-stroke gas piston. This rifle has two types of firing: automatic and semi-automatic. Its rate of fire is 700-950 bpm and up to 30 rounds are collected in the cartridge case.

The life of the barrel of the KCR556 is certified until the launch of 15,000 shots. The rifle has six adjustable levels. The effective range is up to 500 meters, and its muzzle velocity is 830 m / s. The rifle is 5.56 × 45 mm NATO caliber. The KCR556 weighs up to 3 kg. and has the following dimensions: 868/777 mm butt open, 787/680 mm.

About the KCR762 infantry rifle

The KCR762 infantry rifles use a short narrow gas piston system, as opposed to the long-range MPT gas piston system. The AR10-based KCR762 has a muzzle flame arrester. The KCR762 has a free-swinging barrel with precise impact.

The infantry rifle, which works with a rotating head and can fire 7.62 mm x 51 NATO caliber, offers the user the opportunity to use it with two hands. Thanks to the Picatinny rails on the 4 sides of the front and upper body, it is compatible with all standard NATO accessories.

There are 12.5″, 14.5″, and 16″ barrel options according to their areas of use and purpose.

Well picked up a Canik TP9SC Elite and a Sarsilmaz B6C (and a Glock 19 Gen 5). The fit and finish on both of the Turkish-made handguns are quite impressive.
