Neither the US nor Russia approves of a possible Turkish military op. Some experts expect the operation to be postponed.
Turkiye wants Tal Rifat, Manbij, Ain Issa, Darbasiyah, and Tall Tamr from Russia and offers to open and secure the Aleppo-Idlib road.

There are no agreements after the meeting between Russia/Regime and YPG.
Tensions rose between General Alexander Chaiko and terrorist Mazloum Abdi at the meeting in Qamishlo.

Leaving Tal Rifat to Turkiye is not an issue for the Russians. Russians worried that the Shia militia will be left to the mercy of Turkiye.
The same situation applies to Manbij which is a junction between the regime and YPG.
So at the end of the day, Erdo's threats were nothing but a hoax

It is truly amazing how the USA and Russia are able to dictate things to meet their own demands; another proof of how critical HARD POWER is and how Turkey needs to speed up its indiginisation process even more. If Turkey had lucrative gas fields and 100% domestic jets and ships, shit wouldnt have been like this

IF Erdogan has BALLS AND IF he is a TRUE leader -

He would start the operation during the Astana talks - love to see the faces of Putin, Lavrov, Peskov, Shoigu, Zakharova and Medvedev like they are shitting.

Israel did the same to Erdogan in 2008 during talks about Palestine.

Impossible
I would give Turkey around 10 years if the defense industry remains untouched
There is a long list of weapons systems that will come online in two years. And every passing year adds remarkebly more capabilities. We do not have to have completed say the TFX engine or nuclear weapons to get there. The systems we will have in just 2-3 years are fearfull enough to deter all hostiles.

The best time isn't 2 years, 5 years or 10 years, the best time is now.

As you grow stronger, so does your opposition. Erdogan is screwing up the opportunity of a lifetime and this is yet another reason why he absolutely, unequivocally has to go. The man does not know how to govern a country, the only reason Turkey isn't in complete shit yet is because there are still some competent people left in the government who can get results.

Even ten years is an optimistic time. But that has to be supported with financial clout too. Independent natural resources with an economy of 30+ thousand dollar nominal GDP per capita is a vital part of that equation.
Japan and Germany don’t have natural resources. Look what happened to them in the first Gulf War. Prior to that they were the leading two economies of the world that were questioning US dominance. Buying companies in US exerting their international power. US stopped Kuwaiti and Iraqi oil supplies. Petrol prices went up. Both countries went back a few decades. Germany since then had to absorb the East as well and thanks to using EU resources to compensate, it is in better situation. But Japan is still struggling.

It is truly funny tbh

Idk what makes you guys so confident in fighting against all of US, Russia, Iran, and Assad combined?
I still dont understand from where does that blind confidence comes from ffs

Is it due to Russian screw up during the first phase of the Ukraine-Russian war? Did ppl really get that the Russian army is soooo bad that it will lose completely in Ukraine? Certainly, Russia got screwed at first but that wasnt because Ukraine is soo awesome or that Russia is soo bad; it is primarily because the Western weapons amd Baykar are sooo good that they mean something in the battlefield. Just check the current war status, Russia is kicking ass in the East while sustaining tremendous losses. Every day, I read the news of Ukraine losing 3 to 4 setllements and a city

However, Baykar alone isnt enough to win wars; at least not against Russia or US! When Erdo declares a military op against all of these guys, who will help Turkey? Turkey will eventually win and take that 30km safe zone but they would have made at least an enemy of Russia; something that Turkey shouldnt want to experience rn

Iam truly pissed since Erdo has the excuse to intiate a war but doesnt because of Russian and US pressure! It is soo infuriating that Erdo is buckling a lot to these fqs ffs. Erdo should just fight and after making the 30km safe zone, just announce that the US, YPG, & Russia can do whatever they want with the remaining of Syria... Period!

Who said anything about fighting against all of US, Russia, Iran and Assad combined? Launch the operation and take out the target - YPG.

My point, which appears to have flown over your head, is that there is zero point in stalling because even if you grow stronger, so will your opposition.

And it seems that you dont understand that not only the US, but also both of Russia and Iran loves the YPG since it is an effective card against Turkey

Dont ever think that such actors will sit and drink tea while watdhing TSK forces butcher the YPG; they will be forced to protect them so that they can be used in later fights

In other words, to get to the YPG, Turkey must fight both the US and Russia. It seems that Erdo doesnt give that much of a fq towards Iran or Assad; but he does give a damn about the other rotten 2 countries

I dont know if türkiye needs an approval of anyone to start an operation and if it justs rumors being spread by one side and picked up by the other, if there is the will they will start the operation regardless of the opinion of the russians and americans lel. Especially now where both sides need to focus on different regions which are much more important.

I think it would be naive to assume that türkiye will coordinate everything with the russiand and americans anyway so lets see.

Thats how you know you are dealing with a loser, always seeking approval to protect Turkeys interests. No nation will give approval.

Both Russia and the USA benefit from the PKK because its used to destabilise Turkey and they use it to manipulate and pressure Turkey. So asking for permission is the dumbest thing you can do.

"we can come suddenly one night" no you can't erdogan, you always beg for permission before hand and when you don't get it, you do nothing.

That was the great AK party strategy, waste 10 years achieving nothing in syria, allow the americans and russians to entrench themselves in northern syria, then to turn round and beg them for permission. Both nations who support the PKK against Turkey.

weak.

A big YPG convoy entered Tal Rifat from the regime territory. IMHO hell will break loose in Tal Rifat. We will see the decision after the Astana talks. Tomorrow is the last day of Astana talks.

I think they should just end the astana talks alltogether and the stronger one wins, if türkiye wants to push there will be nothing the us and russia can do.

There are potentially loads of things the USA and Russia can do. The Americans could place sanctions on Turkey, they could even directly attack Turkish assets, they threatened it openly the last time. Their not supporting and protecting the PKK because they care for us.

But all of these things should have been taken into account before AK party decided to go on a Syrian adventure. Everything and every possibility should have been thought about, the costs the benefits and every contingency imaginable should have been prepared. Clearly none of this was done by AK party, absolutely nothing.

One place no one should tolerate failure and incompetence is in politics. The moment people become apathetic towards it or accept that politicians are all thieves, so they look the other way when the ones they voted for steal, you end up with scoundrels running a nation.

Turkey right now has maybe some of worlds worst bureaucrats running state affairs. When erdogan put his son in law as head of the central bank we officially declared to the entire educated world that Turkey is a banana republic.

Unfortunately, it looks like a possible Turkish op is put on ice. Assad, Iran, and YPG forms a loose alliance against a possible Turkish military op and the USA and Russia agreed to support this. Russia changed the tune after the support of the USA. Russia offered to station the regime and Shia militias in Tal Rıfat and Manbij. Also according to Russia solution to Turkish problems is not a military op but returning control of the complete Turkish-Syrian border to the regime. According to the Russians if this is done YPG won't be a problem anymore. The current Turkish decision favors intensifying the drone campaign against YPG assets.
