We used to have an aspiration for Su-35 and now look at our situation, don't put your expectation too high.

Su-35's obstacles 100% coming from the outside to be fair. This "Margot Robbie's like aspiration" from PT PAL has all the obstacles from ourselves.

We could've solved the acquisition long ago. The plan was coming sometime around 2013 - 2014, long before CAATSA bill passed House of Representative ( 2017 ) into Act.

TCG Anadolu is not that expensive. Technology wise also not that super complex rocket science-like.

PAL can definitely make one.

1 Bil+ without the air wing. Have you ever dared to check sensors, EW, comms, C4I payloads? It is the flagship, can manage joint-force operations and a flotilla.

We bought 3 overprice underperformed submarines for $1.3 bio, so?

PAL also can copy similar roadmap, 1 built in Turkey + 1 assembled in Surabaya.

It’s doable with the current budget (and expertise). It’s not overreach (or some say “a wet dream”).

Overpriced? Damn no, they are even more cheaper than some second hand article out there , those money already including overhead development Costs, some ILS, training , maintenance facilities, simulator and other stuff.

But still, ada harga ada rupa!!

Not that simple. PAL had years of experience building the Luursen designed FPB-57 but when they try their hands on homegrown KCR-60. The first batch are seen as defective.

LHD are miles ahead when it comes to complexity and a lot of learning curves to be learned by PAL

This is a very important lesson that must be taken since there's no instant success. It would be unnatural if every first attempt to create something on your own always resulted in a perfect product.

On the other hand, many if not most of the problems in the first batch of products - in this case, the KCR-60 - can be avoided if PT PAL has developed its own truly comprehensive testing methods and equipment, or at least acquired these two from more established shipyards.

True that. But there will be no progress whatsoever if no first step is going to be taken. Since they seem to have gathered enough confidence after developing and building LPDs, it's natural if they want to get their hands on something bigger.

Of course, they should never take anything for granted since the LHD is still something new for them.

Are we talking about having a LHD or PAL capability?

Most of the talking here is about the possibility of we’re having a LHD. And I think (realistically) it’s 100% possible, considering the cost of the targeted ship concept (ie Navantia-Sedef TCG Anadolu).

Whether PAL can produce it domestically or not is a different question. They can just follow Changabogo production roadmap, and still they can claim it as domestically assembled.
