The Parchims are hopeless effort I concur. It's neither a good ASW platform and more KCR/PC-60 would have been better than wasting money on ex-WarPac junk.
Let's just hope whatever modernization doesn't involve all 14 hulls but limited yo just a few most operationally ready hulls.
Parchims and Ex-Korean Pohangs are a waste of time, money and effort. Pretty much summing-up Indonesian defense procurement model.
Possibly someone is repeating the wrong path they followed in the beginning of KCR-60, ignoring what they need the most at the coarse, but obsessing over some small details.
Meanwhile there are two indigineous OPV designs under construction by a private shipyard, PAL keeps offering their OPV and KCR+ designs to some countries, how come they can't create one single and rather affordable design to replace Parchim class rapidly, while there are vast amount of compact sonar systems are available in market to equip them.
Not even talking about mothership - USV combo that will dominate ASW business in the next decade and that they have been offered such a system by a friendly country and preferred to ignore?
Damen Schelde designs offer flexibility of modular ships building and that includes SIGMA 9113. You can look back behind to my posting about Damen Schelde latest model of SIGMA 9113 with VLS and modular hull adds
Still fooled by this 'modular' word? You can literally extend any ship from the mid, this is a common application going on since steel was introduced in shipbuilding. And not really a good idea to install a midship block to a military ship. The costs of doing this in terms of money, brings a remarkable cost that does not introduce anything; in time it doesn't worth anything.
VL MICA launchers occupy 4~ meters, they would protrude 1-1.25 out from the deck and occupy one deck level to install the launcher. In fact they will need to cut and rebuild the opening, cancel accodation area under the deck - behind the main gun and install it.
