MKEK got ToT and started producing it in Turkey as their design, not licensed iirc
In here it says it's L55 gun produced under license.

I am in a discussion in reddit someone claimed Altay is licensed produced K2, then claimed gun is license produced, and Turkey can not export the gun without getting export permission from Korea but I couldn't find any clear information about the gun.

His resources is his obese ass. He also shits on Aselsan and BMC engineers a lot and clearly he doesn't know anything about what real engineering is about. He is like a War Thunder player middle schooler LoL
World of Tanks actually. He is a very good WOT player.
And a member of the BABA clan. Those who played WOT in EU server should recognize them.

Not every license is created equal. MKE is also producing 35mm Oerlikon guns, MP-5 submachine guns and G-3 rifles under license but that doesn't mean MKE can't export them or can't produce them as many as needed. This is not a license like F-16.

Does Korea have a say on who to export or not?

Yes, It has nothing to do with Rheinmetall. Rheinmetall might have helped Koreans to develop their gun but that matter has nothing to do with us. Koreans transferred the rights of the 120mm L55 gun to us under the Altay project.

Meaning the license Koreans got from the Germans in the first place for the L55 was also pretty light as they were able to share the technology they got from Germans with us.

I said nothing like that. I said Rheinmetall might have helped the Koreans. I never said Koreans licensed the guns from Germans.

✅Enderun Defense - Question 1 - In how many blocks or phases will the Altay tank be produced? In which of the blocks produced, both the air defense element (Sungur missile)
Also, do you have a study on how to include Omtas or Karaok equivalent anti-tank missiles in the Tank turret?

✅Murat Yalçıntaş BMC CEO Answer 1: The ALTAY tank is planned to be produced in 2 phases (T1 & T2) and it will have the features of a new generation tank.

NOTE: (I can say that both Air Defense and Anti-Tank integration and Mast (radar) are being worked on in the ALTAY Tank in the following phases) Mr. Murat stated that we are working on it.

Hyundai WIA (then Hyundai Precision Industry) gained experience in gun-making from Rheinmetall during the upgrade-phase of K1A1 in the 90s. A license-built Rh 120 mm shorter L44 smoothbore gun called CN03 (KM256 military designation).

After that they were able to independently develop the bigger caliber CN08 120 mm L55 smoothbore gun. Chrome-plated and with an even higher muzzle-velocity than Rh 120 mm L55.

Main construction difference to MKE 120 mm L55 gun is the missing breech opening motor and automatic feeding magazine system for autoloader mechanism. It has the same muzzle velocity like the Korean cannon. Hyundai WIA transferred technology to MKE during the Altay development project and helped modifying according to Turkish specs. Afaik, the Altay ToT/license-package includes unrestricted export for Türkiye (good for you guys).

Besides all technicalities: Rheinmetall's new Rh 120 mm L55A1 gun for Leopard 2 A7 is designed for higher pressure and provides higher performance. A real beast!

Most important factors for MBT and SPH guns are barrel production procedures, quality of steel, chrome-plating etc. In that regard Germans are simply top-notch. Excellence and experience mastered through cannon manufacturing since 1889!
