In my very humble opinion, Indonesian Navy should adding more platform to their surface combatant ships. Royal Navy is already retired two of their Duke class type 23 Frigate, Monmouth and Montrose very recently. Indonesian Navy should taking seriously the idea to acquired type 23 Frigate. With the ship only 29 years old as average, Type 23 is a better stopgap compared to Pohang class in which being offered by South Korean as Type 23 Frigate is a much larger, complex and sophisticated vessels intended to be used at open seas to hunt down Soviet Submarine and had a capable array of anti surface and anti air warfare capability. While Indonesian Navy third fleets is lacking punch and sufficient warship in which has command level, Type 23 can play a greater role there. And for other reason why Type 23, Indonesia actually is not shy away using Britain Made warships and Type 23 more or less still have a common resources with Bung Tomo class. Through some update , like using more modern radar , CMS and replace the seawolf missiles with CAMM ER/MICA NG can prop up the Frigate and let them fit for current mission.
