Not related to ALRI, TKMS new generation fuel cell batteries to be implemented in U212CD, which working together with SAFT for Li-Ion
Li-ion will be the future, getting the Li-ion ToT from France might be the wise choice.

What New model need

-Development of technology and securing supplier sources for most parts
-Certification process
-installation process and field testing
-Projects flaw and bugs after installation, in which doesn't surface during development phase
- Debugging and fixing the bugs

That's need years and Costs you more US Dollar compared to proven and mature solution, meanwhile you need to learn how much the advantage incurred between the solution and are they worth your money and time or not?

My experience has proven me that hopping into something in the earlier development phase, after a proper assessment of suitability, always pays off the extra effort within a given time. That comes much more usable than the ToT delivered as an "offset" on paper. During that phase, the given access is broader than what a typical end-user receives. Also comes with benefits of mastering the maintenance.

This if only you had the time and resources, so you can reap further from the development phase. If only...

If what my friends said in MoD is can be trusted, Indonesia actually doesn't have much time and resource to leisurely doing what we are currently do (yeah ah 140 is a mess, so with other projects being handled by local companies) before great trouble arise in Pacific theater. In short i am suspected we are fucked up big time in near future, i hope not reach FUBAR level....

Sigh, they should have build the vanilla/ original solutions of AH140 rather than trying the modified ver. What are the other projects,OPV 90 ?
Hopefully MoD could pass the Italian made FREMM, while waiting for the Merah Putih frigate.

It is either "now or never" case for the resources. If no resources are available for now, it will never be available in future for a broader ToT agreement. The ToT is mostly cracked during the detailed low-level maintenance instead of "building up" as per assumed by many.

In a war scenario, most also knows, maintenance ability comes front as much as the reliability does. A reliable system with no maintenance back up seems worse as much as the other way. Does foreign counterparts may assure the MoD that the maintenance and spare parts will be provided even at the war-like-scenario? There are examples of western companies holding their personnel off the conflict regions.

Also in most cases the source is willing to provide a trade-off for the trial customer with spare parts and personnel training. Especially if that particular customer may unlock future exports with sphere of the influence, or paving an example for other possible customers against a common a threat.

Meanwhile Jakarta becomes Main Naval Base (Lantamal) III only, consist of fleet of patrol boat. Java already had the 2nd Fleet in Tanjung Perak, Surabaya
