Southern Cyprus has ordered 24 Nora B 52 for National Guard Forces. Deliveries started in September 2019.

The Greek Cypriot Administration through procurement of heavy weaponry from Serbia is adding to its stockpile of armaments. It has come to our attention that the Greek Cypriot Administration is in the process of purchasing 8 Milosh BOV M16 4×4 multi-purpose armoured vehicles used for patrol missions, reconnaissance, personnel transportation and as ambulance, along with 24 Nora B-52 155 mm, which is self-propelled artillery. The artillery in question are 8×8 vehicles which can fire 11 bullets in 60 seconds, at various calibres, at a range of 42 kilometres and is equipped with GPS. In addition, 41 Leopard 2A4 battle tanks and 2 naval armed vessels will be purchased from Germany and France respectively, in order to reinforce the Greek Cypriot Administration’s naval forces.

The aforementioned naval vessels, which will be included in the inventory of the Greek Cypriot Administration navy for the first time, will be stationed at the Evangelos Florakis Naval Base in Mari, where reorganization work to accommodate these vessels has already began. As will be recalled, in order to reinforce the security cooperation between France and the Greek Cypriot Administration, the two countries have enhanced their defence agreement, permitting construction of a new naval station in Mari, which will be allocated for the use of the French navy.

As understood from the above information, these steps indicate that the intention is far beyond that of defence.

Good. These are good things, even for us ( I mean Turkey and KKTC).

@Cypro do you think this kind of behavior is going to make KKTC citizens joyful or seriously start considering separation and sovereignhood ?

Is the public being informed about GC purchase of these ?

Well this is not a new thing we used to follow these type of news, especially in 90s they were arming like crazy, serbia is their brother and always sells them toys. GC had a weapon embargo since the war so they could not be able to buy from USA, Germany etc until now! Now embargoes lifted and even aids! started because they feel threatened and cried to EU about it. Some moves by Turkey unfortunately allow them to get that support. Of course non of us will not accept GC to steal our rights and without Turkey (a powerful Turkey) we could not be able to protect our rights.

This arming thing was not on their agenda since Annan plan/EU membership, but now things are changing.

We are already separated actually, even a federation would planned to have separate states. But yes people here are more after sovereignty. This would definitely increase the importance of guarantees / guarantors.

I understand this move and already know it before, they even ordering anti ship missiles, for a tiny country they are pretty well armed but without air defense, and all these naval activity and drones frightened them

Greeks are still mostly racist and anti-turk, so most TCs are aware and already seeing things despite it looks different to you guys. Many racist incidents happen every year, even many Leftist politicians are not much GC friendly today.

This arming thing is a good thing, let them spend money... this is a small island where they are going to hide those guns. My concerns are anti-ship and anti-air systems if they acquire

They are keeping their hatred alive and this is their state policy. Their education system and media organisations were organised as being anti-Turk. Everything we do is a “provocation” for them but Everything they do is a sovereign rights of Greeks. They are drawing maps to share our coasts by showing a tiny island locating a few km away from Turkish mainland but when we defend our rights in our coasts, This becomes a hostile and barbar behavior for them. They massacred Turks in Cyprus for their enosis dreams but when Turkish army step in to protect the Turks, This became an invasion for them. Armenians are also grown same style. These states are being choked in their hatred and biassed mindsets. What we are just doing is to remind them Turkey is bigger than they can bite. As a result of their provocations, we are just crowning our promises on field today. Armenia attacked on Azerbaijani soil three times this year and they lost almost everything. Greece wanted to keep Turkey out of East Mediterranean by making deal with other states but they can’t do anything about Turkish seismic and drilling activities in E.Med today.
