yes, all the way back since 2009 and all the sudden secondhand F16 came in.
which why it's kind weird that they would go for it while we already trying to buy something even better.

Not so sudden, Air Force command want to bought newly build F-16 52 in 2006 after Bush jr admin lifted the embargo, but the proposed budget is only around 600 Millions US dollar, in which only enough to get six sample and other necessary infrastructure and logistic support for new model.

Then come offer for used F-16 from America DoD after Obama hear the issue about pending possible sales to Indonesia, the proposal being studied for years before formally adopted circa 2012.

how about modify it so it will able to launch AIM9x?
that way we dont have to buy more MICA air-launch version, something like what India have done

There is "weaponry" on DoD's explanation letter about Qatari Mirage. Let's see what is it.

The only sensible , realistic and readily available choice in their complete environment was only that ..
