I would argue it's the other way around. China has a short window of time when it came challenge the US due to demographics.

By 2100 US population is expected to increase to 434m, whereas China's is expected to decrease to 600mil. Consider this: China is currently 5x larger than US. By 2100 China will be 1.5x.
