Still no information which version F15 or F18 they offer to us?
How many US fighters we could expect?
(Hoping for more than a skadron of F15 is too much I guess)
If brand new it's definitely not going to be C/D Eagles.
Something below the EX. Or costum version in which some equipment are customed within Indonesian budget reach.

"However, as you may be aware, the United States has been pushing their Lockheed Martin F-16V Fighting Falcon agressively. In addition, they have also given the green light for delivery of Boeing F-15E Strike Eagles and F/A-18E/F Super Hornets to Indonesia."

All of them is the most potent fighter we can lay our hands on, looking at South China Sea situation and the eagerness of China to testing their new equipment at many front any additional assets to our Air Force will be welcomed greatly

Ahaa... so they keep pushing F16v but added F15 or F18sh to the mix. I see...

Well, 36 F16v and 12-16 F15 advance, how about that?

Pretty sure I’ve read somewhere here that MoD want 160 total fighter planes if I'm not mistaken. Assuming there will be 36 Rafale + 15 Typhoon + existing fighter planes, US will get the rest

We have to sign US deal before 20 January right? I think MoD gonna prioritize US first for now.

Wait, how about KFX?

I think before the deal being sign with the french and austrian there are no locked deal, we can cancelled it for our best interest,
owning F-15, Rafale, EF Typhoon, F-16 and Su-27/30 not gonna help us with china, it's just gonna dragged us into financial, weapons and sparepart fiasco, just choose 36-48 brand new F-15 and the rest could go for used F-16

At this point I doubt the Typhoon will be cancelled in favour for whatever it is from US. Those Trance 1 are ready stock, already exist and only need delivery. All we need are to build is the supporting infrastructure, manpower, training. And maybe... just maybe upgrading those Trance 1 (if that even possible) while we're preparing all the necessary requirement to operate the Typhoon fleet.

The rest of the option (Rafale, Super Bug, Super Eagle, Viper, or whatever) still require building the aircraft, which will took years to complete & deliver. Time that we do not have considering the situation at North Natuna Sea

Even assuming we still in the project for real & committed. It won't be available until 2030 or so

there is covid, xmas, and new year holidays.. it will be next to impossible to conclude a deal for Eagle and Rhinos purchase.. most achievement we can do just submit a request for proposal or something like that.. that if we also can make agreement between AU, MoD, other ministries as well.

You know what, during Yom Kippur US just brought their own fighter and give them to Israel. The question is how far our lobby worked in US, and how far our relationship with them actually it is warrant such treatment?

Relationship between nation is more like on personal level, there is tit for tat and national interest is above everything. That's why trying to cozy up between both of them will bring you not significant relationship between them, as both instead will get wary about your own real intention. There is risk for everything actually just how dare you are ready to brave them.

US MIC (Military Industrial Complex) doesn't practice such business (as far I'm aware of) Doing so doesn't inject enough $ into their economy thus doesn't help to Make America Great Again

The backlog for Strike Eagle is still around 120 jets (Qatar + Saudi). While for Rafale probably about 100 jets (France + India + Qatar).

Super Hornet has about 100 as well (US Navy + Kuwait + Germany).

Assuming that they can produce 20 jets per year it means we're looking at 2026 and 2027 to start receiving our orders.

If something happen up north before that, we have to make do with 30 Falcons + 18 Flankers + 15 Typhoons.

Unless we decided to buy more used fighters.

We should stop getting Israeli stuff that are generic (small arms, imported designs), you cannot rely on covert operations for big acquisition, limit it at small scale only

Why buy Israeli in the first place? What can they make that our own industries can't?

I don't understand the people in charge of small arms procurement, we have the SS2 V5 or the D5 if they want something as short as a bullpup.

There's literally ZERO reason for them to buy Israeli.

I see this occurring a lot in the TNI. For example, instead of buying K.A. made D5s they go buy Sig Sauer made M4s! For what?! What is their reason?! Kickbacks?
