There is FN Evolys 7.62 which is around 6.3 KG but I am not a gun expert so not sure they are in the same class.
Yes it's in the same class, 3D printed polymere and aluminum parts are the main reason why it's lighter. The Evolys is more aimed for SOF units though.

WTF?!

Different versions of HK were used often in liquidations by Serbian mobsters during the 90'es.Given the average American's knowledge of geography it wouldn't surprise me that they can mistake Turkiye for Serbia.

Honestly 70s to 90s Turkiye was a wild West. A lot of the criminal gangs also had state ties.

So its not far fetched but its not only the Turks who did this stuff you find a lot of nations who had this sort of thing.
