An episode of combat work of the Russian 9K332 Tor-M2 air defense missile system in the Kharkov region of Ukraine. In the video, the Tor-M2 air defense missile system shoots down a Ukrainian Valkyrie UAV using a 3M338K missile. The latest version of the Tor-M2 air defense missile system can detect air targets at a range of up to 32 km and hit them at a range of up to 16 km. An interesting fact is that NATO tested the Tor-M1 air defense missile system in Greece, and the results of these tests highly praised the air defense system. Based on its overall characteristics, the Tor-M2 air defense missile system still has no analogues in the world in its air defense class.

USA 🇺🇸 has approved Germany's 🇩🇪 transfer of American made weapons to Ukraine. The package is valued at approximately $450 million usd and consists of the following:

- 100 Patriot Air Defense Missiles
- 125 Long Range Rockets for HIMARS

Note: it has not yet been confirmed if the long range rockets are an ATACMS variant or GMLRS-ER.

Britain 🇬🇧 has announced the imminent delivery of 5 additional Raven Air Defense systems to Ukraine to supplement the previous 8 systems that they sent earlier in the war. The Raven is a "FrankenSam" of sorts. It features a Supercat HMT-600 vehicle, mounted with British made ASRAAM missiles. It's used primarily to intercept Shahed drones and Russian cruise missiles.

This marks the 3rd public commitment from a Western country this week to bolster Ukraine's air defense. Earlier this week it was announced that Ukraine will soon receive 2 additional Patriot air defense systems, one from Israel 🇮🇱 (via USA 🇺🇸) and one from a combined German 🇩🇪 and Greek 🇬🇷 effort. Yesterday it was announced that Germany will transfer 100 additional PAC-2/3 Patriot Air Defense Missiles. Today's announcement from Britain 🇬🇧 will further strengthen Ukraine's capabilities. Britain builds large quantities of ASRAAM missiles and when used with Raven system they make an effective SHORAD system.

Russia continues on its downward path economically and financially...
The country is currently grappling with record-high inflation and an interest rate of 21%, putting intense pressure on businesses that rely on bank loans and raising the risk of widespread bankruptcies.

Despite mounting pressure from the Kremlin, Russia’s central bank has refused to lower interest rates.

Russian consumers are also feeling the squeeze, with prices surging on basic food staples like butter, potatoes, and onions.

In April alone, Russia lost an estimated $13 billion in oil and gas export revenues.

At the same time, the Kremlin increased its defense budget by 25% for the year, underscoring its commitment to military spending despite a deteriorating economic outlook.

With revenue shrinking, Russia is now considering lowering its benchmark oil price from $60 to $50 per barrel. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia — a key member of OPEC+ — announced it would increase production in June, a move that could further drive prices down.

Given all the economic and financial problems the war has created, I would think that Putin is becoming keener and keener for the war to stop before the damage becomes critical.

This is why Europe and Ukraine should not give in to Trump’s demands for a quick surrender-like peace. The longer the war goes on, the deeper the collapse of the Russian economy will be.

With or without the US, Europe needs to continue to support Ukraine as long as it takes to bring economic collapse to Russia. Once the Russian economy will be dying, we will see cracks in the support for the war and for Putin, and if we are lucky, we could see another collapse similar to the one experienced by the Soviet Union. Russia needs to disintegrate into smaller states, and Muskovia‘s empire needs to be broken into smaller pieces.

Interesting take. Basically starving the bear until it eats itself. But here's the catch: cornered animals tend to lash out, not collapse gracefully. Betting on economic collapse to trigger regime change in a nuclear-armed state with a history of enduring brutal conditions (Tsarist famines, Soviet purges, 1990s chaos) might be a risky fantasy, not a strategy.
Also, disintegration sounds romantic until you realize fragmentation doesn’t guarantee peace, just ask the Balkans. A post-collapse Russia with loose nukes, warlord republics, and ethnic nationalism on steroids could make today's problems look quaint.

So here's the real question: can the West orchestrate Russian collapse without accidentally writing the prequel to Mad Max: Siberian Edition?

Ukraine 🇺🇦 continues to hammer Russia's overrated air defense systems across the front. Russia has plentiful quantities of BUK, TOR, Strela and Pantsir systems, but anytime the Russians move them close to the front in support of their forces, Ukraine hunts them down and destroys them. Below are 3 examples from the last week. Each of these systems is valued in excess of $10 million usd, and they aren't easy or quick to produce.

I think that the West’s biggest mistake is their fear to let Russia collapse and turn into “Mad Max”. This should be the objective, not the scenario they try to avoid.

I mean, if I were to choose an endgame scenario to my liking, it would be exactly what you described. Russia eating itself apart, turning into small warlord-run nations fighting among each other. Instead of being a powerful state that is attacking Europe, it would just be a conflict-ridden wasteland that sells its resources for cheap on the black market, so that local warlords can enjoy small luxuries and pay their mercenaries that are busy fighting the neighboring warlord.

As for thier nuclear arsenal? Who cares? Just let it rot without proper maintenance until it becomes useless. There would still be a Muskovia keeping the arsenal safe, just like Russia did after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but a Muskovia without much oil and gas, and without a big population to use as cannon fodder, it would be teethless.

It really bothers me that Europeans and Americans are concerned about Russia collapsing, after what they did. The collapse of Russia should be the objective.

It is easy to support war continuation when others are dying. Would you be so pro-war if thousands of Romanians died every day?

The unknown is how to put Russia in such a weak position that - whatever nationalistic empire re-building sentiments it harbours after severe failure in Ukraine - pursuing those expansionist ambitions is not a viable option.

I favour Ukraine continuing fighting, allowing Russia to weaken itself ever further. Russia is in a hole and digging. Continuing the war allows Putin to keep digging deeper and deeper.

Footage of a Russian FPV drone attacking a Ukrainian M577 command and staff armored vehicle. The M577 armored command and staff vehicle was developed on the basis of the M113 armored personnel carrier in 1962 in the United States, modernized versions of it are still in use. The M577 armored vehicle is controlled by two servicemen and is designed to transport 3 soldiers. The Ukrainian army received M577 armored personnel carriers from Lithuania, 2 batches were transferred. The video of the drone strike on the M577 armored personnel carrier was filmed near the village of Iskriskovshchyna in the Sumy region of Ukraine, on the border with the village of Tetkino in the Kursk region of Russia. As a result of the attack by the Russian drone, the Ukrainian M577 command armored personnel carrier overturned.

If Ukrainians want to settle for peace, I support them, because they are doing the heavy lifting and the burden of deaths is on them. But if they are willing to go on fighting, it is the duty of the West to support them with money and weapons for as long as they are willing to fight, as they are doing everyone a big service.

Since Ukraine seems willing to fight and doesn’t want to give up on its lost territories, we should help them as much as possible in order to destroy Russia. We might not get a better opportunity than this one.
