K2 went into serial production in 2013 but with low production rate maybe till 2018 we could have had 100 k2 because k2 uses mtu engine so Germany could have blocked the sale and we would be back to the same problem the right thing would have been in 2019 to star a modernisation of all Leo 2 and m60 but army is in decision making a bit slow. Same with other projects like t155 or arpan or mobile air defence or just apc instead of having a large amount of vehicles of different sizes we have a small amount of wast vehiclesThat may be true, but it's not because the Altay project has been delayed, it's because there is/was no plan B. If they had purchased a license for the K2 Black Panther from the outset and built, say, 300-500 units, they would already have an operational tank and a higher deterrent, even if they are not 100% tailored to Turkish requirements (neither is the Leopard II, by the way).
The Altay can then be delayed as long as it wants, because you would have something up your sleeve. But now you have nothing. Turkey has many tanks, but only a few of them meet the modern requirements of the 21st century. Apart from the M60T and the Leopard II A4T1, everything else is more or less junk! Or only suitable for border protection or against civil unrest.
False claims were made about Turkey's national main battle tank ALTAY on the South Korea-based News Naver news platform.
The report stated that South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) approved the export of Samyang Chemtec company's 4th generation composite special armor to Turkey. However, according to information obtained from defense industry sources, the claims in the aforementioned report do not reflect the truth.
According to the information obtained, the ALTAY Tank's reactive and composite armor systems are being developed by Roketsan and their production is carried out entirely with national capabilities. Although some raw materials used in production were initially procured from abroad, these have now been domesticated at the current stage.

Turkey's national main battle tank ALTAY is expected to enter the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) inventory within this year.
Prior to the upcoming delivery, some South Korea-based news sites featured claims that South Korea would supply armor to the tank. The claim stated that South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) had approved the export of Samyang Chemtec company's new generation composite special armor to Turkey for the ALTAY tank. According to information shared by defense sources, this claim does not reflect the truth.
The ALTAY tank uses a domestically produced armor system manufactured by ROKETSAN. Only during the initial production phase of the armor were some raw materials procured from abroad, but during the process, those raw materials were also localized by ROKETSAN's Ballistic Protection Center. Currently, the ALTAY armor system is in a state where it can be produced entirely in series with national capabilities. Indeed, during the serial delivery period that is expected to begin after the first delivery scheduled for August 30, 2025, the domestic armor system will protect the tank.

It's of course not my place to teach publications on how 5N1K works in media, but let's clarify some things. Original report is not by Naver, which is a tech publication. Actual report is from Seoul Economic Daily, which is Korea's largest and by what's available one of the most trusted finance newspapers, Naver just quotes it. Report in question is an interview with the GM of the company claimed to have won the contract to supply armor kits for Altay.![]()

Güney Kore basınının iddiaları… ALTAY tankında hangi zırh sistemi kullanılıyor?
Türkiye’nin milli ana muharebe tankı ALTAY’ın bu yıl içerisinde TSK envanterine girmesi bekleniyor. Yaklaşan teslimat öncesi Güney Kore merkezli bazı haber sitelerinde Güney Kore’nin tanka zırh tedarik edeceği iddiaları yer aldı. Which means they are talking bs.Mind you, that does not detract from the fact that it is nearly 2 decades and Roketsan is still talking about sourcing armour raw materials from ROK. That is sad!!
Did you read what i quoted? How? That tweet doesn't quote anybody.
And i said where is the official source for that? That tweet doesn't give official information.

Tiles dont count as raw materials to you?Does it say anything regarding raw materials? I read only armor modules.
Why are you so stubborn? Those tiles are made from raw materials, so they don't count as raw materials.
They aren't, raw material is the ore. What they are probably supplying is much, much more complicated and is a product in itself.(in this case they are)
