They are not the same thing.

Indonesia wants a 5th gen figther, hence why the joined the KF21 project but was later refused the 5th gen variant by USA due ITAR. Indonesia were only allowed to join the 4th gen figther program with external weapons. Hence Indonesia more or less lost interest in a very expensive 4th gen KF21.

So, they were looking for alternatives but 5th gen are hard to get by so they looked for cheaper 4th gen figthers. This was their only option until KAAN, hence their interest in our figther with the expressed requirement of domestic engine.


This is a win-win situation, where Indonesia gets 5thbgen figthers and some production/technology, while Turket get financing and a second production site.

Who is spreading such rumors? Seeing the same nonsense I saw on x here is giving me a headache.

Please tell me the basis for your claim that Indonesia participated in the KF-X program because it wanted a 5th generation fighter jet.

How did South Korea get the KF-21 unit cost to $65 million per unit? I don't know, it probably reflected the exchange rate, labor costs, and raw material prices at the time. It's probably higher now. But at the point of mass production, it will be closer to the targeted unit cost.

You understood me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad to sell military stuff to Macedonia, Export is Export.

My point was more about that AI guy writing "EUROPE" as if we exported to THE european countries. When people outside of europe talk about europe, they only mean a few nations, same can be said about nato.

As @Angry Turk !!! said it's not about exporting to Macedonia, just I was referring the Europe part. It's not hard to sell something to Macedonia, it's not a success story.

Hungary ordered 300 Gidran 4x4 vehicles. The first batch of 50 units will be produced in Turkey, and then production was planned to continue in Hungary. However, I am not aware of the current status.

Knowing Hungarians, that factory in Hungary probably fumbled hard and unhappy with results, government updated the agreement to produce the vehicles in Turkey. This was signed years ago, should have been completed by now.
