This is like the Robinson R44 which is the most basic 4 seater helicopter which is still in production and about 7000 delivered so far. Not a high quality helicopter bu which is also the cheapest. So they have a proven trackrecord which is attractive to follow. However eVTOL taxis should be the prime focus for any statup in aviation. With the new Xiomi battery technology patent which can give 3000 km range on a car with a 5 minute charge battery helicopters are bound to become a thing in a 5 year timeframe. However with the multitude of aviation engines now being developed in Türkiye it is also very attractive to develop aircraft for these domestic engines. I for one am dreaming of a multitude of design for these domestic engines. Not military but civilian though. I think Turkish general aviation should go into a boom phase as it is in a miserable condition now.

There are a number of leverages that can create a boom in LSA sector in Türkiye one of which is a possible introduction of a Part 103 type regulation in our law which the aviation sector should push for. This will enable a boom in the single seat aircraft sector. With some incentivization a new sector of economy can be created in Türkiye.

How is this an answer to my post?
Even civilian helicopters should be better designed,any Tom Dick and Harry could build this design with a blueprint(not even).

We are actually lacking light helis for general aviation that are manufactured locally. TAI is more than capable but it's busy with many models simultaneously and has a very tight schedule, so it's good that ventures like this pop up. I'm not too optimistic but it's worth a try. It may not be unique in its design and does resemble the Robinson R44 or the FH-1100 but that's beside the point. If it's successful, it could sell really well locally and export wise.

Is it? Half of the job of a good GA aircraft is low costs, how can TAI as the giant that is build such a helicopter and make money doing it while they're building satellites 2 hangars down. It doesn't make sense. We are thinking it wrong. We have many startups here as zafer outlined, but nearly all of them have failed to gain attraction, why?

What should be the initial investment for a project like this?

It has to be certified through EASA of Europe like Hürkuş and Gökbey went through, so I would say you start with like $30+ mn for a 4 seater helicopter to get to production ready. This a kind of money only Baykar can afford in the private sector.

Why not have a modern sleek design with an electric drive system,wouldnt it make it more unique?

It was started in 2016 and we live in a different world for aviation today. eVTOL designs have been matured to production level by several multi billion dollar companies around the world although their business model are yet to prove profitable because they will not sell aircraft to third parties but they will operate their own airlines.

I believe in single seat and double seat light sport aircraft (or Ultralight) helicopters and airplanes as they are more affordable and have easier regulations to comply with. Aircraft have similar operational requirements like automobiles but are more stringent.

Airworthiness certification of aircraft (proving it flies well)	harder to get certification as the aircraft becomes more complex
Periodic maintenance	the bigger the aircraft the more the expenses
Taxes and expenses of operation	the bigger the aircraft the more the expenses
Pilot education & training	more of it as the aircraft gets more complex
Medical condition of pilot	more stringent for larger aircraft
Some background check may apply	stay out of trouble
