Murat İkinci, noting that the TAYFUN project is currently underway with mass production and deliveries underway, said, "The BLOK-4 missile is currently one of the heaviest, largest, and fastest missiles developed by Roketsan. This is one of the most advanced examples of ballistic missile technology, demonstrating the current state of the Turkish defense industry in line with the developments taking place around us. The TAYFUN BLOK-4 is a missile that will strengthen the Turkish Armed Forces due to its hypersonic and long-range capabilities, as well as its warhead."
Murat İkinci, noting that the missile they developed incorporates ballistic missile technology and pinpoint-hit missile technologies, said, "The TAYFUN BLOK-4 development phase is nearing completion, and test launches are hopefully beginning. The TAYFUN family is a large one and will expand even further. The TAYFUN blocks and features will expand as a family, depending on the variety of warheads and the missions to be performed."
Murat İkinci explained that R&D studies are ongoing, saying, "When these R&D studies reach a certain level of maturity, we will share them, as we did with the Tayfun BLOK-4. Some may be abandoned before reaching a certain level of maturity. However, the TAYFUN family will continue to seriously enhance its features and capabilities by adding new ones. One of the TAYFUN's key features, in addition to being hypersonic, is its onboard sensors. These sensors incorporate numerous technologies that allow it to effectively engage its target and protect itself from battlefield impacts. From this perspective, we can say that the TAYFUN BLOK-4 is actually one of the most advanced examples of the TAYFUN family. Are there more? Yes, there are. There are other blocks in the works. When these reach a certain level of maturity, we will share them with our people, God willing."
Murat İkinci, explaining that the GÖKBORA missile unveiled at the fair is a member of the solid-fuel ramjet family, said, "A solid-fuel ramjet is a missile developed for the first time in Türkiye. As you know, TÜBİTAK SAGE's GÖKHAN missile features liquid-fuel ramjet technology. We are also working very closely with TÜBİTAK SAGE. That missile and our GÖKBORA missile can essentially be launched from within the KIZILELMA and KAAN platforms, that is, from their internal weapon stations. This will enable it to engage air targets without compromising their stealth capabilities."
Murat İkinci, noting that the missile is a ramjet and a very long-range missile with a beyond-visual-range capability, said, "This missile, with its capabilities, can actually navigate its target using data collected not only from onboard sensors but also from other sensors. It incorporates numerous technologies. This will be one of the features we are maximizing in our air-to-air missile. Numerous organizations have contributed to this missile. Roketsan's advantage is that it has invested heavily in the ramjet project for the past three or four years. We have reached a certain level of progress in this area. Hopefully, we will begin testing the first versions of the GÖKBORA missile very soon."
Murat İkinci emphasized that they are focusing their R&D efforts on systems not supplied to Türkiye, stating that the GÖKBORA has far superior features compared to its counterparts not supplied to Türkiye.
