I already thought the Smart-S Mk2 was overkill for such a vessel
Considering the tasks expected from the ship and the future functions required to be performed, it's not an over kill actually. However, this process may be caused by more of a necessity.

I don’t know how dependable this guy is. But according to this YouTube message he has put on the web, there are extensive embargoes on Turkey implemented by US and even Italy on various naval projects. Hence the delay on the I class frigate.
Mainly ESSM block 2, MK41 VLS system and RAM block 2 systems are on the list of embargoed items from the US origined military equipment. (ESSM and RAM block 2 were part developed by Roketsan. We are in the consortium that produce these missiles) So we have another f35 situation here.
Italians are refusing to supply the 76mm Super Rapid OtoMelara main gun as well.
So the MKEK 76 mm gun will replace the Italian gun.
G40 and Hisar will replace the ESSM , MIDAS will replace MK41 and sapan/Sungur will replace RAM according to this video.

İf it is true that they aren't supplying ESSMs , NATO will just repulse Turkey to Russians or Chinese. I also wonder if Germany will give MTU diesel for İ-class.
What the f..ck. ESSMs-RAMs- VlS are under sanctions, F35 are under sanctions. What would Turkey buy?

Produce our own. We were part developers of RAM block 2 and ESSM systems. We can copy paste and re name them of our own if needed. Worst case scenario is buying equivalents from Chinese (Via Pakistan).
This is in away “blessing in disguise”! At least this way we are developing our own industry for heavy machinery.
No wonder LODOS propulsion has set up a JV with Zorya-Mashproekt of Ukraine to produce gas turbines in Turkey.

He is not creditable for awhile, and to me hasn't been creditable for long time regarding to the naval platforms.
If Italy and US has embargoed us, then forget entire class of Ada and first I-class, doesn't have much chance without spare parts. I-class is progressing and it means there is no such an embargo.
Italians are also supplying the stern tube-shaft-propeller, Gas turbine originates from US. delivered by MTU without these there is no point at all to launch I-Class and start equipping it.
The single clue for him is that MKEK developing a 76 mm gun and Tubitak et al. is working on G40 and MIDAS.

Correcting: Propeller and shaft is Swiss made, stern tube is italian if i am not mistaken.

Yeah, that the Italians are going to embargo the 76mm naval gun to Turkey is a dead giveaway of the nonsense this guy is spouting.

I found out after I shared his video that he was a bit suspect and not fully credible according to various other sites. I am glad you concur with that too. So may be we should disregard his video altogether! Sorry if I misguided !

People likes to appear in social media, so somehow i think they constantly need to create a content or a video to stay "up", the creditable people already writes in defense magazines or in several other forums.

Those rust buckets always are a eyesour in Marine photos. It just sticks out like a sour thumb uugh. I mean atleast use Leopard1's or something, perhaps regular M60 even but why the ancient M48's. Is it because of the weight? In that case Altay is not a good replacement and we might aswell opt for Kaplan-MT, Tulpar or any other platform with a turret on it.

You're right, weight could be an issue with MBT. Tulpar would look great and have capability to transport marines within.

Navy would ask for a customized turret derived from Altay's and also a modified medium tank with up to date armored protection.
Just need some time. :)
