I would like to ask a question.
Is it true that with Baykar Akinci we are the first country to develop UCAV with air to air combat ability?

There is this {page} I found and people say only US drones have stingers attached to them so far but they too arent properly fit for an air to air combat because of their avionics. They lack AESA radars which are appearently a must for air to air combat.

It seems like Akinci will be the first proper UCAV to have air to air combat ability with its Bozdogan WVRAAM (Within Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile) and Gokdogan BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile) and national AESA radar.

About General Atomics Avenger(Predator C) (I couldnt quite understand whether it is still under developement):
Now someone in the page talks about Avenger(Predator C) making a test with AESA ''just last year''(his post date: june 2020) but I couldnt find anything about when they implemented it to the drone in any other place.
Also wikipedia page shows no a2a missiles among avengers armament. I digged quite a few places but all it has are air to surface bombs/missiles.

I know AESA radar helps with a lot of things but why didnt they add any air to air missiles? Do they think it is dumb/inefficient?

Well it is not like we will be putting them to down fighter jets, they will be substantial for downing enemy drones/turboprob planes/helicopters.

To my knowledge Akinci will be the first true air to air missile carrier drone and will house AESA radar but that is few years off. It will be used to target hostile drones, helicopters and opportunity aerial targets.

US MQ-9 was tested few years ago with sidewinder & stinger missiles and the test was a success. There was a AESA radar but was mounted as a center line pod on the Sea Guardian variant. And no US doesn't think its dumb, actual reason is they don't need it right now. They tested it and gained the now how.

Avenger or Predator C is fully operational and couple of the produced units house AESA radar, which further descended to the ER variant. The program was halted in February 2012 and the produced units are used as test beds as of now.

I dont care about drone footages against SAA btw, I find our war against SAA morally wrong and it feels like ''USA'' watching those clips. You know what I mean by that. Strong but morally(and strategically tbh) wrong. So please only footages against PKK-YPG or ISIS if you can share any.

I too would like to see more drone strike footage against YPG/PKK.

I wouldn't call the anti-SAA strikes wrong because they were in response to the air airstrike which made us lose more than 30 soldiers.

I hope they dont try sth stupid in Aegean sea or Cyprus. It seems like they laid all theur bets on Mediterranian natural gas. J wonder how much can it help Greece so that they do this much for it.

All impotant Greek airbases are in missile range, and Rafales will probably deployed in Tangara-Airbase which is also in range.

Air superiority is something they can keep dreaming about.

This really confuses me. Armenians in reddit also talked about preventing TB2's from taking off by shooting Azerbaijani air base. I mean is this really how it works? We are talking about an entire country here. Cant they just hide where they keep the jets? Cant they just block a highway for their jets?

The armenian case should not be compared with a hypothetical conflict with greece since all of their SRBMS have a large CEP (especially export iskander E) and they tried to hit ganja airport but only succeding in hitting civilian/residential areas
Whereareas TR have intelligence and a stock of PGMS and guided area denial weapons to make Greek AF grounded

That is how it works. Yes. But in reality; destroying an airbase is not that straight forward. You could bomb the runways to make them unusable. But they are usually quickly repaired. Usually within hours. (US and Allies bombed Syrian base. Next day it was back in business)
There are special munitions that is peculiar to this sort of attack. These can be runway penetration bombs or submunitions that have delayed action to make it difficult to mend runways.
The other way to attack, is to target the bunkers protecting the aircrafts. There is also the enemy Air-Defence systems you have to overcome to allow your missile to reach their targets.
Yes there are certain motorways and highways that are designated as replacement runways. But you have to bring logistic support to these locations in order to service modern jets.
It is easy to say “we will bomb their bases so that they will not have a runway to land on.” But reality is different. But it is not impossible!

It is not just about hitting the jets but hitting the logistics ability as well. Without the ability the refuel or rearm the jets, they will be useless.

For hiding the jets location(or base), it will be very hard. It is not just keeping the hangars secret but keeping all the infrastructure to operate the jets secret.

Long Story short i believe that the video footage is quite old. I unaware of the production rate but going with the officially announced 24/year i would say its from 2018.

If the annual production rate is 46 TB2's then Baykar could've produced more than 180 TB2's by now.

Air superiority means nothing if you don't have strategic depth. All of Greece is within range of Turkish missiles (we don't "officially" have this capability ).

As for our drone programs, MIUS and other jet powered drones may prove to be a game changer in air-to-air combat.

Just remember that losing a drone, no matter how expensive, is not a big deal. However, losing an F-35, Rafale or F-16 is a huge morale defeat. Especially if the pilot is lost in the process.

Our drone expertise is something we should double down on.

People need to relax even with F35s and Rafales.

The Turks will find some ways to counter them. Not all hope is lost.

No doubt losing the F35 is a loss but we should not lose any sleep over it.

Turks always overcome challenages no matter what. There is always a way and a solution.
