Not while many of ASEAN countries officials are in good economic terms with China. When I said good economic terms that's because many of China's economic projects in ASEAN are deeply tied with companies owned by officials in the government. So they benefit from it and likely shy away from making moves that anger the country.
Including us btw. But, realistically we or else can't just said "Fuck, I don't want to do trade with China anymore", many things supplied by them, and also, they need our goods (especially raw) , basically we need them, they need us (for market at least) . What we can do actually only to make sure they not try to destroy our economy by "Dumping (supplied us with dirt cheap commodities that Indonesian companies can't even compete with them, because them are cheaper)" that can drown our companies to dead and make sure they compete fairly.

So that trade make us and another "soft" to PRC, and that is understandable. But the good news is, now on our architecture projects we are less/minimum to rely on China (BRI). That can make us less "bergantung" to China, make us more free.

Btw, now what we can see next is about the 5G. Proposed/so called D10 will fight the Chinese on 5G front, try to make Chinese have less "bargain chips" In the world.
CATIA is some old stuff. IPTN (PT DI) have been using it since Suharto era.
Wkwk... I just knew it, I'm so outdated for this kind of things wkwk

Edit : Line 5

How about making NATO style organization? Thats a really strong Deterrent Effect actually.

Article 5 of NATO is really the "Deterrent Effect" of all of the NATO members. If ONE country is attacked/invaded, all NATO members HAVE a responsibility to act against the invader.

9/11 activated the Article 5, so its all NATO members responsibility to attack Al-Qaeda back, especially the one in Afghanistan.
Like SEATO was, but this time only between select countries in the SEA region including us?

I'm not sure that will work. At best, it probably be a co-op agreement between Indonesia and Singapore - since the former has the space while the latter has a lot of military hardwares stored aboard due to lack of it, as well as since both countries have no territorial dispute with China (our issue is the EEZ grab by them).

But even if it materializes, it will still totally different than a 'proper' alliance.

Indonesia's plan to purchase F-15EX, Rafale jets 'separate' from KF-X joint fighter development program: DAPA

22:54 February 20, 2021

SEOUL, Feb. 20 -- South Korea's arms procurement agency said Saturday that Indonesia's reported plan to purchase F-15EX jets from the U.S. defense giant, Boeing, and France's Rafale fighters is "separate" from a joint warplane development project between the two countries.

Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) made the comment after reports emerged that the Southeast Asian country plans to purchase the fighters between 2021 and 2024 amid speculation that it might want to quit the KF-X joint fighter development program with Korea.

"We assess that (Indonesia's purchase plan) is a matter separate from the KF-X joint development scheme," the DAPA said in a press release. "It is a move that Indonesia has already been seeking to boost Indonesia's Air Force power.

DAPA also noted that Indonesia has expressed its intention to continue to participate in the KF-X project.

"Through multiple working-level consultations, the two countries have been conducting negotiations in a mutually beneficial way," it said.

Interesting. I had thought that we'll have to withdraw from the KF-X because of our shopping list but if this is true then 2024 and beyond will be very exciting.

I don't know how SEATO worked btw, was that had its Article 5-like or not.

With Singapore, mm.. Why not with US wkwk?.

Throw that "Bebas Aktif" stuff. like I said before, even the guy that proposed "mendayung diantara 2 pulau" (M Hatta) made secret cooperation (eventhough the risk/political cost is not cheap) with US in term of anti-communist effort inside Indonesia in 50s.

That explains why we still don't have any sort of alliances even though naturally we should consider the looming threat. Your "bebas aktif" foreign policy will be a laughing stock once another Pacific war broke out.

If you ask me, the only hope ASEAN have is in the form of QUAD. They are what stood between China and having total control over Asia. Only naive believe the otherwise.

My inner working let me met with some friends in Indonesia MoFA , they acknowledge right now to balance out our National security and interest must bring Indonesia foreign policy closerly aligned with Western power who promoted status quo and democracy, instead of China circle countries. Now China involvement in Myanmar coup case impact for stability in the region is being under Indonesia MoFa close attention.

Back to Indonesia Air Force choice for F15 EX and Rafale is let us digest more information, before Indonesia is outside of the list US and allies consideration for advance arms transfer ( even the latest model of F16 is actually not much compared to latest model F15 ) but after roundabout military Diplomacy safari by Prabowo last year had resulted in more closer cooperation between US and her allies (including Japan) and Indonesia government and military. Thus resulted in what we can see right now.

Although it is not formally sounded, after Osprey then F15 EX and other off hand stuff i can't disclose today all of this news Made us realized if Indonesia position as partner for US is quite closer than what you can expected. Even far more closer than several Non NATO allies

Taiwan seems to have a problem regarding operating US and French fighter at the same time.

Although Taiwan has a significant number of AAMs, a large portion of these missiles is comprised of French-made Mica and Magic AAMs (1,440 acquired originally) mated to one aircraft type only, the French-made Mirages. At 56 airframes, the Mirages constitute only a small fraction of Taiwan’s overall fighter fleet. This stockpile yields a ratio of well over 20 AAMs per Mirage.

Taiwan’s F-16 fleet, on the other hand, faces the opposite problem – a curiously low ratio of AIM-120s to fighters. Taiwan’s small inventory of AMRAAMs (300-plus) and relatively large F-16 fleet (144 jets) yields a ratio of barely two AMRAAMs per F-16. This creates a double misfortune whereby many Mica and Magic missiles may be stranded on the ground in wartime with no surviving Mirage fighters to use them, while many F-16 fighters may find themselves bereft of AMRAAM missiles to use. (Owing to incompatibility, many missiles designed for one particular aircraft nationality cannot be used by aircraft of another nationality. Taiwan therefore cannot remedy its ratio imbalance by having its American-made F-16s use surplus French-made missiles.)

could F-15 EX launch MICA or Rafale launches AMRAAMs?? this could spell trouble.

It's not about whether they "can" or "can't". It's a matter of willingness between involved companies (and countries) to work on interoperability between weapon systems and their respective platforms.

Or we can just buy Israeli made missiles since apparently they can make theirs work with different launch aircrafts.
Personally I have no objection if that's the option we'll take. But, yeah. Our govt. and TNI must have a really thick face and f*ck all attitude first before we can openly buy weapons from Israel.

Back then i remember one of the member tell me, if we didnt in dire need of F 15 missile truck but more to multirole fighter.
then come this news and everybody got euphoria like those stuff were already arrived here.

The first testing of F 15EX was held last Feb 3rd, with unknown number being produce.

If only what lembaga keris said is trurh, then we already order those 15EX long before today.

I doubt that will be happen any soon, france himself have tendency to reduce US made componemt on their weaponery since the last rastriction from US to sell a number of SCALP missile.

Yet, today we still in comfort of lacking any weaponery, athough every plane from NATO has less trouble in communication system.

Let's pressure Korean to give us KFX's source code if they want us to stay. That way we can integrate whatever missile we want to KFX. If not, then get out and buy more Rafale (or EX).

Our official don't want to end up like Saadat was wkwk, just joke. Saadat was getting closer to Israel, what happened next? He was killed by Islamist.

Back then, Soviet backed leftist (PFLP, Baader Meinhoff linked/alike German lefties, Carlos the Jackal, etc) and Islamists around Israel were the same bunch of Anti-Semitists. Still, the influence is until now, that Patrice Lumumba educated Mahmoud Abbas become leader, even though he become more moderate now.

Now, this highly Hamas influenced bunch here are the same "bebal". They are stupid btw, can't even differentiate between 2 entities that fight/fought each other (Fatah-Hamas).

it can be long if talking about it wkwk

Edit: I add " Differentiate". Fuck lah always be like this if I wrote long and fast.

I still think the clearer path for us to operate 5th gen is through KFX. I'd like us to go "full Asian" in 2030-2040 by operating KFX 5th gen and Japanese F-X 6th gen :)

If operating the U.S. and French fighters is trouble for them, then what is operating the U.S. and Russian fighters like us called?

Anyway, from the article it's likely because of poor planning in procurement.

If the original article mentioning EPAWSS is not for export is correct, then it's not only Indonesia that won't have it. India as well if they also decide F-15EX offer is a go.

But after reading some tweets and other local blogs and news portals, they mentioned it as if it's only Indonesia that won't get it.

That is given .... We are the credible player with attitude left in the region . Wether it was for a good reason or not arguably we are still known for never take things for granted and do half a measured move .
It's not about whether they "can" or "can't". It's a matter of willingness between involved companies (and countries) to work on interoperability between weapon systems and their respective platforms.

When shit starting hit the fan . I ain't give a f#@k for anything else but making the coast clear as far off as possible . Hell , we could even concsript those so called jihadist wannabes to be a front liner for a change . And ship them all to the west bank after the conflict was over and even could make a good campaign over it .

Just imagine ... Out of consideratiom of ummah we are training the fighters . A credible and seasoned fighter for the liberation of juressalem . yeah i know it would come back and bite us in the ass later on but a man still can make a dream no ?? 😁

Is it hard for us to get EPAWSS for EX ?

As of now they were strictly for US only . And this is the point of my rant before .
There is no way we would get that system today . but still , we have to make our demand clear from now on and strive for it . Take whatever we could for our own benefits . Be it survivebility or tech sharing . We must take all . Full blown conflict between US and Mainland was allready a future factual outcome it was no longer a possibility . The only question is when . So , we must fully prepared for all the eventuality until the uninvitebility comes knocking our door .
And the last thing i wish to see is my brethren was get martyred . Timor-timor were still fresh in my mind
