Drilling and running oil platform on open sea will give knowhow so we can build windmills on open sea. Even use one for radar purpose and keep track of what’s happening.

I remember while working at DONG in DK. They were building windmills out in open sea and were using same supply vessels most of the time as for oil drilling. Cost saving but also gaining precious knowhow

There was a project for offshore wind energy platforms, announced by energy ministry several years ago and some institutions has initiated projects related to it. In the end, a partner experienced (more likely a foreigner company) with constructing those at open sea and experience on maintanance was seeked.

What's the point in being among top entrepreneurs on global scale when you BUY every damn thing from other countries. I guess when RTE and AKP talked about domestic production rate they forgot to include every damn sector ?

At least 200 mio USD a year from salvaging old ships and other things and sell them as scrap metal.

But we're only doing this in Izmir, the conditions must be of such a high quality that (with regards to pollution and such), since EU ships can only be salvaged in Izmir.

Look at that old AC/LHD

Cruising is a good way to both vacation and and see places at the same time. The best part of it is you don't have to get visa for the visited countries. An average cruise is 7 days long in which you can normally visit 4-5 ports. If you do several cruises like this you can visit all countries in the region. If the home port is Istanbul which is the most accessible location in Turkey most people can board without extra costs like airline travel. It would be most convenient. Maybe a couple cruises from Kuşadası, Marmaris and Antalya and possibly Izmir will be good. Maybe in the coming years cruising to Turkish destinations will boom with the Istanbul ports being renovated. But nowadays the world cruising industry in on the verge of collapse. Indicators show that the aviation industry will not get back to its pre-pandemic level before 2024 which in turn is an indication for cruise industry as well.

A former colleague of mine in Denmark, would go on cruise vacation once every year or every other year. He and his wife would fly to northern most part of Norway and take the cruise line all the way to Oslo, or so. And then fly back from Oslo.

planning trips from both ends of Turkey could be awesome for ppl who wants to experience either.

3 days trip, 7 days trip and longer could be possible. In the name of promoting Turkey.

Other trips could be mixed in as well, something like KKTC marash and what not.

Coronoa is a problem, but might be worth planning these things.

That cruise company doing Norway ports has messed up big time this year traveling with Corona positive crew and passengers and stopping at every port of Norway. Just a note.

Well, nothing is normal this year, so thinking nothing would happen shows how culpable world is.

doesn’t change that the idea for that particular cruise rout is smart.

You will only know that once you try it.
Once upon a time there was seaplane trips from Halic/Istanbul to Bodrum (?) and the company ended up with $5mn loss.
There were also helicopter shuttles in Istanbul which closed up shop long ago.

That Norwegian company I mentioned just because they were in some cruise news, nothing special.

True, but considering the abundance of history, old sites, nature and what not we have, we should be able to pull of a cruise experience.

Get some old cruise arrangers to come and give input on trips, stops and such.

An example. Most Danes don’t know that you can ski in Turkey, they’re like ”huh ?” When I tell them, I skied in Kartal Kaya.

So unless you take the time, invest and have it ready, don’t expect anyone to come and do it for you.

give away these trips for dirt cheap, if the experience is good, word will spread.
