If they had for one moment thought the unthinkable, and done a mind experiment with peace on the Indian border, they might have jumped up in their chairs and rushed off to mend relations. But no mind experiment, no jump, just the same jejune falling back on seemingly clever, in reality bone-headed stupid calculations of what they are doing to India.....

Precisement.

India would have heaved a sigh of relief if China, far from dropping her claims, merely froze the LAC in discussion with the Indian side; neither side to get all it claims.

Quite clearly, the only hot button in this whole dreary mess is China's need to protect the Xinjiang-Xijang highway. Once India guarantees this, China can go back to killing monks and nuns.

Uhhh no, they would not . Beside I personally think it's time to have an external threat, as long as it didn't bite. Since it's inception our armed forces are more suited for domestic mass suppression. Having a rogue China would force the TNI to reform towards modern warfare mitigation

Yeah I think its more like "friends" with speech marks rather than full on friends. I mean at least it would be a start to something more pragmatic for all sides to take forward more long term.

But right now it is nigh impossible to shoot some pool given the gorilla on the billiard table.
