This documentary had some footage and details I had not fully explored and chewed upon regarding negotiations involving such a unique conundrum that had unfolded with much pain and suffering behind it (and sadly in front of it too):

@Joe Shearer @Saiyan0321 @VCheng @T-123456 @Kaptaan

I have watched a number of documentaries (on just these accords even) and read fairly extensively on this subject (though not as intensely as the period governing the area during the cold war) and also have fully detailed and contrasted in my head what I remember of it (seeing on TV as a boy) and my youthful naive impressions then and how they have changed now with a much fuller vessel of context and of course the downstream reality since.

It is still quite saddening and disturbing how close they got to something but didn't get the touchdown in the end.

There are useful parallels to be made w.r.t human psyche across time and space regarding this kind of thing.

I am going to pin this thread and would love to hear some of your thoughts and recollections (ofc when you can) regarding this topic from whatever perspective you think is proper.

Also goes for any member that has interest here on this.

@500 of course has seen things up close and lived through it....but I am unsure if its his cup of tea for discussion.

And our media shows this as a victory.
1-) Nobody gives 2 cents about Erdogan's speech
2-) Making such speeches do not serve anything positive for Palestinians.
3-) Making such speeches do not serve antyhing positive for Turkey.

It's just "Turk's propaganda for Turks", nothing more.
Yeah, I am sure they don't give two cents when Hamas and Fatah meet in Istanbul.

I'm talking about Erdogan's speech in UN, you are talking about hosting terrorists in Istanbul. It's comparing oranges with apples.
What I wrote is what backs Erdogan speech, Turkey considers none of these groups as terrorist organizations. If you're following Israeli consideration, that isn't my business but still if you're looking for terrorists you can check those, whom Israel deals (overtly/covertly) with, near our borders. You don't have to look near our borders, those were within our state and still.

My terrorist, their terrorist. Well, known story of this century.

Still you are not talking about my argument though.

Explain how come his speech isn't given two cents when he is the head of state that hosts Hamas and Fatah in istanbul?

Because, he can change nothing about Israel-Palestine issue. He is shouting since 10 years and could change nothing for Palestinians. And nothing happened for the interests of Turkey.

Why are we even discussing about it? If you are feeling happy of Erdogan's shouting, then be happy.

It isn't about me being happy or not but when you claim his speech isn't given two cents then you have to explain all those efforts Turkish state puts forward regarding Palestine. I don't care about it that much as well but you can not underestimate efforts of MIT (for example) regarding that by claiming such stuff.

I can't say nothing happened regarding Turkish interests.

"Israeli daily Haaretz alleges the three Arab states have warned Israel of creeping Turkish influence in East Jerusalem."
