High-Level Strategic Relations Between Ukraine and Turkey

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Mr Oleh Uruskyi and the accompanying delegation met with the Turkish Defense Industry Presidency delegation.


We signed a Memorandum of Understanding of Cooperation (MoU) based on strategic cooperation issues between the two countries. The agreement was announced by SSB head, Prof.Dr. İsmail Demir.

Ukrainian delegation will pay an official visit to Turkey

August 26 - 29, 2020, the Ukrainian delegation will pay an official visit to the Republic of Turkey.

The composition of the delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Uruskyy includes representatives of the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the State Concern "Ukroboronprom", the State Concern "Ukrspetsexport" and aerospace enterprises of Ukraine.

According to the program of the visit, the delegation will hold official meetings in Ankara and Istanbul with top Turkish officials, heads of enterprises and organizations of the military-industrial complex.

Moreover, the Ukrainian delegation will get familiarized with the production facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Roketsan, Aselsan, Baykar Makina and others.

The parties plan to tackle the development of cooperation between the countries in the field of defense-industrial sector.

Ukraine and Turkey are doing something big behind closed doors. TAI, Roketsan, Aselsan and Baykar were the institutes that Ukrainian officials visited. I believe we will hear something in following months.

Most likely, Ukraine is waiting for Akinci drones and will be a partner of MIUS unmanned jet fighter program bro. Both Akinci and MIUS are being powered/will be powered with Ukraining turboprop/turbofan engines and they are delicering IP rights of both engines to Turkish JV institute called BlackseaShield. We will see what will be the next.

Most likely, Ukraine is waiting for Akinci drones and will be a partner of MIUS unmanned jet fighter program bro. Both Akinci and MIUS are being powered/will be powered with Ukraining turboprop/turbofan engines and they are delicering IP rights of both engines to Turkish JV institute called BlackseaShield. We will see what will be the next.

Ukraine is closely watching our UAV development and as you pointed out they are probably waiting for Akinci and MIUS.

We must not forget that very important part of that cooperation is also one of the most strategic projects regarding UAV development of Turkey's TAI which is aimed at developing an advanced HALE UAV and we can see the similarities with the Ukrainian project announced by Antonov
