An interesting article on Turkish intervention in Libya. The comment that says The Turkish Naval intervention and the training of Libyan coast guard has resulted in more and more illegal migrants being caught. It is also weird that it is claimed as “alarming“ for the West that through the Turkish trained Libyans, Turkey is winning the minds and hearts of Libyans.

Post it under articles with link. It’d be a shame to have it disappear in threads

I know that Algeria wasn't so much involved compared to Egypt, but I would have thought they had been more vocal in the support.

Greece Voices Dissatisfaction with Its Exclusion from Berlin Conference on Libya

On Thursday, Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias expressed his displeasure at the German choice to not invite Greece to the second Berlin Conference on Libya.

Speaking at the Second International Conference of Cultural Heritage, Dendias stressed that the priority of the summit must be the immediate departure of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya.

“Greece has a direct route of communication with Libya. Despite this, we are extremely disappointed that Germany, obsessively sticking to its strategy, did not invite us yet again to the Libya summit,” according to a statement released by Dendias on Twitter.

“We have reopened our Embassy, we have opened a Consulate in Benghazi, we have visited Libya,” he stressed.

Although Greece has been mostly uninvolved in Libya for the past decade, it was forced back into the quagmire when Turkey attempted to acquire Greek maritime area with the previous Government of National Accord (GNA).

Since then, Greece’s relationship with the interim Government of National Unity (GNU) has prospered. “Greece holds direct dialogue and communication with the Libyan side,” he said.

The countries that have been invited to the second round of peace talks include the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, along with Italy, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, but not Greece or Egypt.

Despite Greece having the largest maritime border with Libya, and Egypt being a direct neighbour and stakeholder, Germany did not invite these two countries to the conference. “We are extremely dissatisfied with the fact that Germany, insisting on a tactic, did not invite us to this meeting again,” Dendias said, adding: “I have also expressed this dissatisfaction to my colleague.”

“I think that something like this will happen at the level of the Prime Minister, and I will soon meet with the envoy of the United Nations, Jan Kubis just to convey the same to him, although I know that he has no responsibility for the decision,” he concluded.

You're a broke useless whiner that's why you're not invited mate.

Not to mention they were Haftars biggest cheerleaders.

I remember Greek twitter losing it when the GNA reached Al Watiyah air base.

Greeks what did they do to even back Haftar they did not send soldiers neither did they send arms all they did was cheerleading.

UAE is there though.. the funder of Haftar.
They are not there because they don't have a power in Libya, they don't have a say to change anything or action of any group or tribal.
Egypt could have been due to backing Haftar, but everyone is well aware Haftar would have never obey commands of the Egypt his master is UAE. Those countries (egypt and greece) were politically involved to grab a share in case Haftar has a permanent ground and they have gambled for a possible two state solution.
And Haftar's illegal act and rude decisions have killed the chance of 2-state solution.
Haftar is going to go, sooner of later i have been telling it since ever, there is no future Libya with him. He is a putschist, he is a dictator and he is undemocratic.

haha forgot about that, they're always opposing Turkey in everything. Even if Turkish scientists found a cure for cancer they'd be screaming sanctions so nobody could get it.

Haftar gave libya its worst defeat in Chad 🤣

The defeat was so bad he fled libya and became a Cia asset. He cameback with the backing of UAE, Russia and France only to lose again 🤣

If all of Turkeys enemies were like Haftar, Turkey would become a new empire within 25 years. The guy is terrible as statesmen and as a military man.

Just a future tinpot dictator who could careless about his country just so he can fill his pockets while his masters control the show.

Great thing was seeing Turkish drones sending russian wagners to hell.

Italy is getting a lot of the reconstruction benefits in Libya it seems:

Italy is Libya’s “best partner” in the reconstruction of the north African country after years of civil war, Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dabaiba said in Rome on Monday.

At a business forum with major Italian companies, Dabaiba explained that “after a tough decade Libya now needs the support of all countries, not just Italy. But to us Italy is a partner, a brother country.”

Libya attended an economic conference hosted by Italian companies.

Dbeibah, who came to Rome with seven ministers, said, “we want to rebuild Libya better than before, to advance,” and for this project, “Italy is our best partner.” He defined Italy as his country’s number one partner “in the economy, in petrol, in development, in infrastructure, but also for hospitals, the rebuilding of schools…. In the last 10 years we have worked hard for safety, to offer you a friendly neighbouring country.”

Another lose at the table I think...

Time will tell.

I can't find much information on the projects Turkey is doing. There is this.

That Zuwara - Ras Jeder is a TINY section of road. italy on the other hand got back their contracts on getting the entire coastline road from Tunisia to Egypt. Turkey has not got back all of its contracts I think.

Italy tried to dislodge the Turks many times and they failed. Will see with time but right now Italy has the advantage because they are richer but the Gna does not trust Italy because Italy barely did anything to help them when Tripoli was under siege.

Turkey has to pitch in and be more active we cant let the Italians take it under our nose.
