The standard loadout for many Indonesian navy capital ships is 4x AShM, many of the refurbished ships with Atmaca will only have somewhere that number.

Another important step was taken towards the Middle East and Gulf region within the scope of ASELSAN's high technology cooperation and export-oriented growth strategy with friendly and allied countries. ASELSAN UAE Office, which will meet the needs of existing and potential users in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Gulf region, has started its service. Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), Numan Kurtulmuş, Turkish Ambassador to Abu Dhabi, Tugay Tunçer and President of Defence Industry Agency Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün attended the opening ceremony of ASELSAN UAE.

Mass production contracts were signed for TAYFUN, SUNGUR, TRG-230 and KARAOK missiles

"Land Missile Systems Signing Ceremony" was held at the Presidency's Defense Industries Presidency (SSB) with the participation of Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak and Land Forces Commander General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.

In his speech here, Görgün pointed out the successes achieved in the defense industry and said, "Turkey's development in the defense industry attracts the attention of the whole world with the support provided by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan." he said.

Stating that everyone working in the field of defense industry does their best with their mind and sweat, Görgün said:

"The land, sea and air platforms we create, produce and export, and the payloads and ammunition used on them. It is not enough to produce only the platform and the elements used in this platform; it requires serious effort to provide systems that facilitate their coordinated work with each other and their use as needed. ."

SSB Strategic Systems and Space Department Head Hacı Ömer Karakuzu gave information about the TAYFUN, TRG-230, SUNGUR, KARAOK missile systems for which contracts were signed.

Karakuzu said, "May our systems be beneficial to our glorious, invincible, brave, strong and heroic Turkish Armed Forces, who have ensured that our sacred flag has flown freely for thousands of years, which has provided peace to our nation, trust to our friends and fear to our enemies." made his assessment.

"Implementing such systems requires great willpower."

ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci stated that the company is rightfully proud of developing the missile systems in question with domestic and national resources.

Murat İkinci said, "Implementing such systems requires great technology, determination and will." said.

Pointing out that the TAYFUN missile is a system that will eliminate dependence on foreign countries, Second said that the TRG-230 missile system was developed and fielded during the epidemic period, in line with the request of the Turkish Armed Forces.

Murat İkinci explained that the SUNGUR Air Defense Missile System has much higher technologies than its equivalents in the world, and that KARAOK is among the indispensable parts of modern armies.

Turkish defense and aerospace exports started 2024 on an upward trend. The first export figures of the year were shared at the January 2024 Foreign Trade Figures Press Release meeting held in Malatya on February 2, with the participation of Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat.

According to the data announced by Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the Turkish defense and aerospace sector realized exports worth 330 million 248 thousand dollars in the first month of the year. The exports of the defense and aerospace industry in January showed an increase of 17 percent compared to the same month of 2023. On the other hand, it was stated that the total export figures for January reached the highest value compared to January exports of all time.

The trend in defense exports continues. Before we reach the mass production phase of KAAN and similar strategic platforms, it is almost certain that we will exceed the 10 billion mark in defense and defense aviation.

Apparently, Fidan said that drones will be exported to Egypt. No further details available.

They should first of all make them honour their Anka contract that is now a decade old.
I have the idea that Egypt is mainly targeting TB-3 and KE. AKINCI is one of the best systems in its class in the world, but from another point of view, it will open the door to deepen relations with BAYKAR.

(A note for those who don't know: RTE is going to Egypt next week and is expected to be accompanied by a large industrial delegation. On Valentine's Day they will show an RTE El-Sisi hug)

Possible Gökbey sale to Saudi?

"At the World Defense Show held in Riyadh, we signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Industrial Development Center (NIDC) in the presence of our President of Defense Industries and the Minister of Industry of Saudi Arabia. We wish it to be beneficial for both countries."

Drone diplomacy has its limits. It works with Small dirt poor countries that are in desperate need of affordable & effective air power to put down rebels and keep the state together. Or with relatively big countries that are good faith actors, at least when it comes to Türkiye and its interest. For example, with Pak, Indonesia & BD.

However, countries like Egypt and UAE are big but NOT good faith actors. In this case, drone diplomacy does not create enough leverage to keep them away from harming Turkish Interests. In fact there is always high risk of backfiring.

But more importantly, if Türkiye wants leadership, it needs to learn how to act on its principles consistently. That require staying away from the temptation of short term lucrative export deals.

See, USA. Whether we agree with its policy or not, by and large it has the consistency of blocking of billions of dollars of arms deal for the sake of what it thinks as its core interests and principles.

On the other hand, French makes some good stuff, sell it to whomever can pay and makes lots of bucks. Yet they don’t have any serious say in world affairs. Because leadership requires weight and consistency.

Lets say there is. Who will buy drones from you when your drones start malfunctioning the moment they operate in Libya?
Do they know there is one ?

It have two Sides of a Medal to sell advanced Weapons to Egypt. First to counterballance Israel, on the other they can be used against Turkish Interests.

Egypt is economical 10 times worste then Turkey or 20 times, with what money are they going to buy first of all? Before they accepted our terms with EEZ and Libya they should not sell them weapons.

The economy is a driving factor in these sales I think. That or the off the books budgets for pet projects. Erdogan hands out money by the bag during elections

All this is like we are living in some kind of alternate universe.

In the next episode of Turkish Defence Exports:

Turkiye signed a contract for the export of Koral, KAAN, ANKA 3 and KIZILELMA with Greece. President Ersogan: "Nobody will be able to disrupt the friendly and brotherly relations between Turkiye and Greece.

Russia and Turkiye to jointly produce Bayraktar TB-3 in Russia.

Negotiations are ongoing for the supply of SIPER Block II and Bora SRBM to brother Armenia. Work continues within the framework of the Military Cooperation Agreement signed earlier.
