"In 2024, Indonesia jointly selected Naval Group and local shipbuilder PT PAL to collaborate on construction of two lithium ion battery-powered Scorpène vessels in country, with the French prime responsible for technology transfer. Naval Group is also lobbying Indonesia for a Defense and Intervention frigate order.

The manufacturer proposed an offer last year for the ship that included an option for local production, ASTER 15 and 30 missiles, alongside self-protection systems and a three-year construction pitch, according to Naval News."

Interesting photo of CEO Naval Group with Indonesian Navy Chief holding together a model of Indonesian Navy DSME 209/1400. Credit to TNI-AL.

Interim means quick to get with limited budget, so procurement for newly built sub might be out of option, Unless, the submarine building process is really fast, (like chinese did😏),

But nevertheless, second hand unit would still be interesting if the offered sub was Italian U212 😇

Turkey has a reis class project which currently has 2 submarines in the sea trial and has just been launched.
perhaps it could be an option if DOD want to buy fast submarines like ppa and fdi.

Nope, you can't expect the same pattern like we're getting PPA from Italy,, and Egypt getting FREMM from both Italy and France with "shortcut way" the same way with the other procurement.

The reason IDN Navy and Egyptian Navy getting brand new ship so quick is because the original owner has reached the minimum quantity and quality for its armada already, they have the abundance of surface fleet enough to fulfill the minimum number but still need more to fill the gap

IIt's different story with Turkiye building Reis class with their top priority in mind.

so lease it for couple years, with an option to extend or purchase in the future if possible...everybody happy then
