Long or short stroke doesn‘t influence compatibility with transmission. Afaik there‘re other factors like bolt pattern and torque converter. The Renk HSWL 295 transmission in K2 MBT works fine with the former MTU MT883 Ka-500 short-stroke engine and new Doosan DV27K long-stroke.
