Not to mention it isn't difficult to integrate sensors/weapons packages onto a hull.

It's not really the barrel that's the problem. It's that Pindad's ammo is literally a hit or miss in terms of quality that when a firearm has tight tolerances then it will refuse to fire/cycle. And the Eli gun's problem IIRC relies on it's electrical components, which doesn't use the same US...

Quality control of their Eli gun and the fact that it's not certified for aerial use by any relevant aviation governing body. And I think the Eli gun also has the same issue as Profense's M134 offering in the fact that they can't reliably fire Pindad-made ammunition due to well, Pindad quality.

I think it's important to note that we should realize that the 30FFM and the European FREMMs are more or less considered 'Destroyers' in terms of size and capability as they can perform both AAW and ASuW. When you think of a traditional Frigate, you'd pretty much see ships such as the...

Because if you suddenly get billions of dollars spent on what is essentially a glorified camping trip, it's VERY easy to siphon funds off for yourself.

It's unironically what the Air Force wants to do. Rely on a mix fleet of F-16V's and F/A-50's with either the KFX or F-35 coming online after the 2030's. But again, personal politics and bad judgement is at play here.

Literally if you don't want the F-16V then the next best thing is to get F-15's. You'd still have a heavy fighter that's double engined and can conduct both ground and maritime strikes while still having access to a common pool of parts and weapons without being a burden on logistics. There's...

If you're going for the F-15, the retraining for F-16 ground crew wouldn't be too difficult as they both share a lot of components. Most importantly, F-16's and F-15's can share engines.

Easier said than done. CMIIW but the last time the Air Force had a significant budget increase was during the Sukarno era. It would still be very expensive, 1-2 support aircraft (with added equipment and packages) are already as expensive as an entire squadron's worth of fighters.

Exactly how is he going to afford to operate all these fighters? You can't use loans to finance your Air Force's operational cost. Not to mention the credit line is also still needed to finance the Tankers, MPA, and AWACS programs as well.

Look at it this way, the F-35 is the most capable fighter aircraft in the world today in overall lethality and is only offered by the US, and is thus their most advanced platform capable of being sold. Although less capable than the F-35, the Rafale F3-R is the most advanced aircraft that...

I It's not the foreign loan scheme, SMI is not dumb. If she sees how much it is to operate all the planes that he wants she can immediately pull the plug on the whole plan. You can't fund your Air Force's operational costs on loans, you can only use those loans for procurement. And the...

I wouldn't get my hopes up on the Rafale to be honest. It's the most expensive out of the 3 options, as well as the costliest to operate once you factor in weapons and equipment. Prabowo can scream all he wants, it's KemenKeu that has the final say.

Also depends if they layered and integrated it with other GBAD assets. If there's anything you can learn off the current Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, is that you need to have a capable and integrated air defense network that is supported by credible EW assets. Especially if you don't have the...
