I really didn't want this violence but it looks like it's coming to be regardless. I'm not going to beat on the "Armenia failed state, Armenia going to lose territory to join Turkic world, blah, blah, blah" drum because it doesn't interest me and additionally I don't think our government is...

People, people, all the drones and electronic warfare is awesome. It's all fighting for the same team. Let's not turn this into the Internet equivalent of the Imperial Japanese Army vs. Imperial Japanese Navy pissing contest.

As an Azerbaijani, I pray for no war. Sincerely. Do I want Armenia to stop with their claims on Karabakh? Yes. Do I want Armenians gone from Karabakh entirely? No, I know of good ones who deserve to have their homes back (the post-90s settlers who BS that they've been there forever though can...

Historical Combat, War, Geopolitics History and Analysis

If a group of Turkic people were to establish a state in South America in an alternate history of the 1600s and then 400 years later, their descendants are a mix of the Turkic arrivals and the natives who were there, does that mean that those natives are not the descendants of said Turkic people...

I mean, they ARE their ancestors. Mughals were based mainly out of modern-day Bangladesh and while it's true that they have Turkic origins, that doesn't really change the fact that it's Bangladesh' history (also Pakistan and India's but those two don't really consider it the same way as...

Russia has lots of separatist movements, they just aren't very effective because the state continuously clamps down on them and enforces Russification policies plus unlike Turkey there isn't any one minority that makes up 10-20% of the population. Russians make up the vast majority, minority...

I don't think this part was conductive to your argument considering that Lool is speaking from the point of view that Turkey doesn't want to host migrants anymore.

Technically it's name is the Malatia-Sebastia district. It was originally two districts which were named after the cities of Malatya and Sivas in Turkey. Bangladesh is more of an unofficial nickname.

I mean, Tesla probably did have Turkish blood in him somewhere, he was born in a village that was at the time located in the equivalent of a DMZ between the Austrian and Ottoman Empires in a region that was under Ottoman control only 30 or so years prior. Besides, just check out the mustache on...

On the topic of Cyprus, I would like to mention that it was Turkey that made two proposals for unification. As far as I am aware Greece has made no such proposals.

I treat George Friedman's prognostications with a heavy dose of skepticism but I agreed with what he said about everyone and their grandmother having easy access to nuclear technology or knowledge on how to acquire/build it by the mid-century. You have to understand that most people have their own problems they need to resolve. They don't really want to think about every little aspect of acquiring living accommodation, they want to place their trust in the fact that the builder, real estate agent or government authority in charge of...

Why do you talk about "chance" as though this is some kind of once in a million opportunity? If anything it's the opposition trying to stop Erdogan seizing the chance to delay the election possibly indefinitely. Also why do you insist that the opposition wants to return Turkey to pre-2000s era...

Looting reminds me of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Was nowhere near as deadly but the government response was also fairly sloppy. Police and volunteers are also pretty restrained in violence against looters and criminals, I would have expected several of them to be in WAY worse shape.

This is silly, military is absolutely needed down there to keep order and assist in rescue efforts. There are already reports of looting and violence, there needs to be law enforcement officials on-site to prevent chaos.

They didn't say eight times the number of people had died, they said the death toll COULD increase eight-fold depending on how bad the circumstances get back when the estimated number of dead was around 2000. That puts the worst possible death toll at around 16000 according to WHO estimations...
