I did though. You raised the question of whether Turkey will have to sacrifice it's foreign influence in order to improve relations with the West. I pointed out that no, this is not the case and fear-mongering over it is silly. Presumably screwed over his, his family's and his friends'...

    Azerbaijan Armenia Relations News

If I recall correctly, the issue was that the new governor had a ton of illegal wealth accumulated on the side through corruption, smuggling, etc, and when his wife went shopping, they discovered the amount on her credit card (there's basically no privacy in Iran) and that's why he got slapped.

They are far from irrelevant countries. This is just an astoundingly stupid move on Erdogan's behalf. Who cares what ambassadors say? Tell them that no, we are not releasing Osman Kavala and there are good reasons for it. This feels like spur-of-the-moment idiocy which will bite Turkey in the...

    TR Economy & Updates

Not forcing the central bank to keep lowering interest rates, making the currency crash, doesn't mean giving up on foreign influence. If anything, it will make Turkey's ability to exert influence even stronger. I've already pointed out in another comment that Western states are specifically...

How nice, they even colored it red to indicate where the points of failure are. What an absolute mess of a project this is.

??? Do you truly believe that getting Erdogan and AKP out means Turkey will give up on global influence? Seriously? The cat has been let out of the bag, there's no putting it back now. If anything, getting someone into power who is not actively sabotaging the economy will bolster Turkey's...

Maybe not, the mine clearing seems to be progressing faster than expected. I suspect that by 2029-2030, Karabakh will be (mostly) fully safe to traverse with the occasional warning to travelers to mind their step and not venture too far away from the roads.

Right you are it would seem. Or at least it falls on the right date. In the interest of saving face, I still maintain that Biden isn't a typical Irish surname. One group of separatists supports another. Nothing new.

This is only possible if you have China's levels of human capital and authoritarian lack of regard for human rights. There is no actual way that Turkey, a country lacking many of the advantages that China possesses and also plagued with many issues that China doesn't have to deal with, can pull...

True but turns out my speculation on his Greek origins wasn't completely unfounded. https://greekreporter.com/2021/04/01/joe-biden-greek-ancestor-who-fought-for-greece-independence/ Makes sense too, Biden doesn't really sound like a native Irish name.

Isn't Biden's real name Bidenopoulos or something like that? I remember hearing somewhere that he was of Greek heritage.

Flying car is coming, Chinese EV maker Xpeng’s flying car company raises over $500 million as it aims to roll out in 2024

I dunno why they call them flying "cars". They don't have wheels, they can't operate on land like a regular car, they aren't designed like a car, they are basically small helicopters for civilian use. "Car" is a misnomer IMO.

Defence Q&A Is the Iranian army really strong enough to invade Azerbaijan? Will Turkey allow this?

Yes, Hezbollah indeed proved how much of a joke they are on many occasions. Iran, the mighty giant? More like Iran, the screeching midget. If Iran keeps acting like assholes towards their minorities, I don't think it's Turks they're going to be massacring...

Geeze man, take it easy, drink some tea. Islamism is at the core of the issues that plague Turkey today, so it's understandable why he would dislike it. If anything, I see a lot of people here leaping to try and defend AKP's horrible track record, whether by deflecting blame to CHP or claiming...

Air-Force Turkey asks U.S. to buy 40 F-16 jets to upgrade Air Force

Do you think the US would tolerate France becoming too powerful? Germany? Spain? Italy? Poland? Britain? Turkey isn't unique in that regard. Hell, there is no reason for Turkey to relinquish Mavi Vatan. The much talked-about military agreement between Greece and France? It specifically excludes...

Yeah, that was the joke. I probably should've put an "/s" there but I figured a smiley emoji would suffice. AZN is a currency kept afloat pretty much entirely by our gas and oil exports despite "attempts" to "diversify" Azerbaijan's economy so when prices crashed in the mid-2020s, it almost...
