That’s exactly what I thought, that’s why it doesn’t make sense to me. + the US will do everything to stop the Russian gas flow into Europe, this way they will weaken the only source of income that Russia had, and why not replacing Russia by selling their own gas to Europe.

Can someone explain how this deal will benefit Turkiye in the future ? What kind of ‘leverage’ will Turkiye get against Russia by doing that ? Because I genuinely don't get it.

Absolutely true. This isn’t a good move in my honest opinion. The futur goal of Turkiye is too be independant of foreign fossil fuels. What’s the point of doing that ? Being the center of the gas hub, especially in this region will cause more trouble for Turkiye in the future.

I don’t think they will cancel the project with MMU currently being at an advanced stage. In fact it will pave the way for future 6th Gen functionality into the MMU.
