Their previous models were all intended for military and police therefore they were not carry friendly. They were thick and were meant for open carry mostly. These models starting with the first MC9 are thin with 28.5 mm width as opposed to 36-38mm and easy are to carry inside the waist band...
It depends on how they will convert it. If they turn it into an axial flow type it counts for a full conversion and it will be very comparable to a PT6. If they take shortcuts and attach a propeller to where the shaft is it can still work but it will lack in efficiency department. If Baykar will...
When did you use these weapons against western countries, Greece doesn't even count as we are not even conflicting with them. Enemies who have invaded Türkiye once already you want to count on them to give you weapons to fight whom. Other nations than the west we don't need any more weapons than...
All your arguments suggest we shovel money into mouths of the enemy. Those weapon makers are to stand in front of us as enemies. And those weapons can only be used against their enemies and not ours.
Hard work for an organization means putting more man hours and resources on projects and not...
We are talking about something that is totally up to Turkish engineers performance and the leadership that leads them. Hard work and more resource allocation can speed things up by a good margin. While this is a fact getting in costly long term engagements is only political and not rational. It...
In 5 years we will be getting our Kaan powered by our TF35K engine, we better not touch somebody else's weapons. The world is changing but our TSK want to stick to old school.
Niger is using competition as a bargaining chip but they know very well that they are to be the first one to go that path, Saudi Arabia walked that path backwards. Looking at Lentatek website you can easily tell that Karayel is not well developed, standard features on TB2 are yet to be developed...
If they have not changed to Rotax recently Karayel used some other engine, iirc Continental, and it was 80hp not 100, hence the 120 kg payload rather than the 150kg TB2 carries. There is no mention of an engine in Lentatek website, so 80hp it is.
They probably wanted to buy at the price level of their previous order and didn't take dollar inflation into account. Karayel is different and it will be a logistical nightmare for Niger down the road.
TEI's engine doesn't need to be cutting edge, it is OK if it is even comparable to GE's existing engine which I guess there isn't one in that power class. Who even needs to compare ones own work to somebody else's foreign work.
In training mode you decrease the wear and tear on the plane by limiting its high performance features.
You also need to train pilots quickly at times of pilot shortage, like we see in Ukraine.
You can afford that much, it is scientific development after all and can pay off greatly. It is the best investment you can invest your money in and remember how we have already progressed in that field within a short few years. You can of course add more life to a plane by simply doing parts...
