Live Conflict Israel-US vs Iran War (2026)

A very right wing politician was invited to speak at my university. The 'anti-Nazi' faction at the university demanded he should not be given a platform to express his views. There was a Jewish Society at the university. It wanted the politician to express his views so that, through argument...

    Live Conflict Ukraine-Russia War

A big increase in Ukraine drone production could really intensify Russia's problems in exporting crude and refining crude both for internal use and export. I look forward to Russian government revenues from the sector possibly falling to their lowest level for many years. If revenue from oil...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

I believe that Eurofighter has 1400+ TRM's. If KAAN has a wider nosecone, I guess it could hold more.

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Out of curiosity - if you know, please - are trm's getting smaller in size as time goes by, allowing more to be fitted in an aircraft's nose?

Live Conflict Israel-US vs Iran War (2026)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c1wz2ld4535t Could the USN protect itself and bulk carriers, tankers it escorted through Hormuz? Perhaps a large number of fighters patrolling above could prevent fast boats approaching but anti-ship missiles? How would they be stopped? And what to do about drone...

    TR TF35000 Turbofan Engine

I think those given dates are not realistic. KAAN has flown for 30 minutes. P1 has not flown yet. TF35000 has not run yet. Turkiye may be developing TF35000 as fast as it can but I do not see development of production engines being linked to when KAAN is delivered to TuAF.

https://en.topwar.ru/264744-obespechit-nezavisimost-ot-kapriznogo-zapada-turcija-pokazala-nacionalnyj-dvigatel-dlja-istrebitelja-kaan.html That article sounds like the writer is uninformed about Turkish turbofan development programmes. I note the writer gives an incorrect figure of 26,000 lbs...

TR HÜRJET-Advanced Jet Trainer/ Light attack aircraft

CPFH is not a major factor if you can down drones for $25K instead of $500K. Down 2 drones in a hour and the weapons expended cost is at least $800K lower than using Sidewinder.

TR HÜRJET-Advanced Jet Trainer/ Light attack aircraft

Are small fighters practical on carriers without catapults? India abandoned the idea of using their navalised version of Tejas because the load it could carry was too limited for the aircraft to be useful.

    Live Conflict Ukraine-Russia War

It seems that the financial and economic situation in Russia has taken a turn for the worse. According to Russian commentator Konstantin via a source within Russia, Q1 2026 tax take is 22% below Q1 2025 tax take. This may indicate a combination of a deterioration in company profits / a large...

TR HÜRJET-Advanced Jet Trainer/ Light attack aircraft

EJ200 weighs about the same as F404 but produces about 15% more thrust than the F404 used in Hurjet. Of course it is not Turkish so no automatic sovereignty over the engine but if political risk is high with a US engine it should be lower with a European engine. EJ200 cost is much higher than...

TR HÜRJET-Advanced Jet Trainer/ Light attack aircraft

I think that there could have been a good market for a Eurojet 100kN engine for single engined fighters. SAAB, HAL, ROK might have selected it for their products Gripen E, Tejas Mk2, KF-21. Would it be worth developing one just for Hurjet or does Turkiye plan to develop a single engine fighter?

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

4G? Who wants to partner on a new 4G project with Gripen E, F-16, Rafale, Eurofighter, F-15EX in production and Tejas Mk2 due to enter production next decade? What about Spain partnering in some way in KAAN if FCAS is abandoned? Would not be spending on FCAS, so would have funds available.

Russian economy... https://fortune.com/2026/04/25/russia-economy-reserves-labor-shortage-inflation-gdp-financial-crisis-revolution/ I thought lifting sanctions on Russian crude stored on the high seas would result in a boost in Russian GDP for a couple of months. Live Conflict Israel-US vs Iran War (2026)

Good to hear. This is Israel and America's war, not the war of NATO or the war of the attackers' allies/ex-allies.

Indonesia Indonesian Air Force, Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU)

Would Indonesia operate both KF-21 and KAAN? I could see some logic in getting a 5G aircraft to operate until KAAN could be delivered with TF35000 perhaps in the late 2030's but KF-21 is not 5G. With 4G Rafale on board, what is the interest in KF-21 - particularly since it uses US engines?

Live Conflict Israel-US vs Iran War (2026)

IMF has raised its forecast for 2026 GDP growth in Russia. To me that signals an elevated average price for crude in 2026. The IMF sees a conclusion to the Iran crisis soon as unlikely? https://tradingeconomics.com/russia/news/news/541893

I hope that won't happen. The strait of Gibraltar is only 9 miles wide. I don't want the US navy blockading the strait, paralysing Europe-Asia trade until the king of Spain goes to Washington to kiss the king of America's feet.

Live Conflict Israel-US vs Iran War (2026)

Trump seems to take the view that NATO forces are there to do what US forces do - carry out the wishes of the US C-in-C ie execute US foreign policy. Attacking Iran may be US policy (because the US is following Israeli policy) but US foreign policy is not neccessarily the same as that of other...
