a similar earthquake ever hits istanbul and god knows how many hundreds of thousands maybe millions will be killed, the over construction/development in that city is criminal.

I'm reading that that AK party is applying a censorship and are not really sending aid to help the people, is any of this true? Or is it just propaganda against AK party?

No idea but it will become clearer in the next week if they did but the main issue right now is that there is a transportation problem because of the earthquake roads, highways and etc are destroyed and tunnels etc are filled with debris.

How did the politicians get there?

what kind of a fucking world is this. we can't do anything. i hope the death toll is not as bad as some people are insinuating. but the images of cities that look like war-torn areas is very scary.

Kahramanmaras is not hit hard like the rest, as you can see the video. This is hard but the right opproach, the damage is beyond our power. Ther are places wher 60000 people are under debris. More then the half of the city is dead. Focus will be cities hit the hardest.

Has anyone made a calculated guess as to how many people could have been killed?

I think it is around 22,600 people I got the number because the world health organization said it is estimated that around eight times the number of people died back when the number of confirmed deaths was 2,825.

They didn't say eight times the number of people had died, they said the death toll COULD increase eight-fold depending on how bad the circumstances get back when the estimated number of dead was around 2000. That puts the worst possible death toll at around 16000 according to WHO estimations not 22000.

Sorry, I was trying to remember the number while I was typing, so I forgot to write the word could.

when I looked at the article, it said that there were around 2800 deaths maybe they changed the death count without editing the rest of the article.

yep just checked the BBC article, and they are editing the death count without changing anything else.

I hope my number is wrong and the amount of people that died is far lower. I hope there won't be any more earthquake deaths in turkey in the following months.
