Turkey was working on an early warning system that could tell if an earthquake is coming around 10 to 20 seconds before, but the earthquake happened before it was operational her is an article about it, The saddest thing is the system was meant to go online at the end of this February.
Does anyone know any charities that that someone can donate to?

Allah help Turkiye in those very diffucult moments , It looks catastrophic earthquake , alot of building have gone and alot of people die/injured .
I hope goverment take a lesson and at least prepare for future , Istanbul is aslo the target for huge earthquakes so should prepare that every building shoud resist at least 9 Righter scale , Japan aslo has earthquakes but there is no building collapsing so easy .

Those seconds are better then nothing, plus new systems are being created that might do a better job soon. There might be a way to detect Earthquakes using satellite-based quantum computing here is a paper about it. There have also been attempts to train an AI to predict an earthquake in a laboratory, but it is not certain how this system would be transformed into real-world applications here is an article in case you were curious.
