Kime neyi anlatabilirizki. Pis PKK'lılar diyelim herkesin hoşuna gitsin.

Hmm....If Turkish opposition party along with Turkish rulling party stand in solidarity with Palestinian people, then i conclude there is a public consensus on the issue.

While Turkish friends on this forum are giving mixed responses, which led me to think general public is also divided on the issue. But looks like it is not the case.

Of course it is mixed. Just because the opposition party leader is doing it, doesn't mean that every chp voter is supporting it...

That idiot is not the Man even in his own house let alone be a representative of Turkey's opposition. He is the most ridiculed and hated figure amongst the 48% that voted for HIM back in May.

It really depends to be honest.

The conflict in Palestine is mainly a black and white issue in Turkiye. Because most Turks will be supporting Palestine out of religion.

Most Muslim Turks will support Palestinians out of religion. Most leftists in Turkiye will support Palestine due to lots of leftist groups in Palestine or how the struggle is a working class struggle.

There are some who support Israel due to their hate of Arabs.

The other side or the pragmatic ones look at the conflict with the scope of whats in it for us.

Kemalists tend to be 50/50 on this issue.

You will get lots of opinion lots of different responses.

Azerbaijan supoorts Israel because Israel has invested in the country also Israeli weapons were crucial in their fight against Armenia. Not to mention Israel backed Azerbaijan in the global geopolitical arena even the Jewish lobby kept the Armenian lobby when it came to Azerbaijan.

For Azerbaijanis it does make sense to back Israel. You scratch my back and I will scratch yours.

It's actually more than that, a ton of Azerbaijani Jews live in Israel who are pretty patriotic about the homeland. Unlike Turks, we don't tend to identify with Islam very much, the Soviet Union beat it out of us plus a significant chunk of the ADR's founders and prominent Azerbaijani nationalist thinkers had a neutral attitude towards Islam at best.

The Azerbaijani government officially supports a peaceful resolution (mainly to avoid pissing off other Muslim countries we are friendly with) but the average Azerbaijani isn't all that particularly sympathetic towards Palestine and Hamas. Mainly because we've had our own negative experiences with Iran trying to create Hamas/Hezbollah-esque organizations inside Azerbaijan.

Turkish left is historically pro-Palestine.

When Turkey comes under international pressure and Ankara needs to soft-pedal, the job often goes to Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek. The 50-year-old member of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), who previously served as finance minister and economics minister, is one of the few moderates in President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government. Simsek grew up in humble circumstances in Kurdish-populated southeastern Turkey, and only began learning Turkish in elementary school. He was awarded a scholarship to study in Britain, eventually gaining British citizenship and working as an investment banker in London. He became Turkey's economics minister in 2007, when Erdogan was prime minister. In 2015, he was appointed deputy to Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who stepped down in 2016, and Simsek retained his position under Davutoglu's successor Binali Yildirim. The interview took place in the prime minister's office in Ankara.

Our minister is also aBritish Citizen .
