Its not right and no they are not "pretty much helpless". Their situation is far better than minorities in developing Asia to begin with.

Well, yes. (let's say Compared to Uyghur.) i guess 'pretty much helpless' is an overstatement.

But I was actually comparing how in contemporary time, let's BD or Pak Muslims never has to face these Hindutva folks, not a litte bit. It is impossible given our own nation states and sovereignty. But Muslims in India has to put up with them. They don't enjoy our comfort in this particular case in this particular way. And given the number disparity, they are 'helpless' on their own to stop Hindutva if (a big if) larger Hindu community just sit back and watch, if you think this way. However, hopefully it is better than that. All the sensible and civilized people in India together (irrespective of religion) will push them away once and for all. (But I don't see any sign for that yet. And if modi is elected, looks like he will be, I am pessimistic about it. At least in the short term)

I despise the hindutva goons and all they have done to worsen delicate situation. But given size of India, one can do easy selective take on the best and worst of some matter.

India faces its social conservatism vs social conservatism issues like any other country with multi-cultural inheritance in whichever way (each culture has its social conservatism that does not intersect with anothers well)....this was matter of time unfortunately as sufficient attention to this issue was not given in India's modern era (by social liberals, past the conservatives themselves) in build up to current era with BJP rise.

There was not proper basic attention given to education in North to same level in South (where Kerala for example has something like 50% Hindu, 30% Muslim and 20% Christian and is largely stabilised socially relations-wise).....as much South is huge work in progress itself. I mean if Kerala could stabilise socially with these ratios, issues of north would stabilised even more easily.

A lot of this was worsened by Pakistan as well....that is its own long story. I seriously doubt the BJP could have risen (in north) if there was peace with Pakistan after partition.

In this forum I have seen Turks take on their own issues as well w.r.t AKP rise versus earlier era of more CHP etc (its why the whole term "AKPeon" got posted bunch even here)....but they all together rightfully rankle against those that say "Kurds are helpless" or whichever other minority in Turkiye (the Kurds are pretty large population in end, very unique situation has evolved).

Turks also have their brittle bitter history with the Greeks and a situation in cyprus that is contested between the two....worsened by the Greeks in leadup to Turkish intervention in cyprus.

Again there was a larger multi-layered buildup that really only Turks know the best in the end.....and foreigner sitting in Europe, Russia or another part of middle east or larger world simply doesnt understand, even if they are the same religion (or same secular outlook) as some Turk......and some victimisation element within Turkiye instead grabs their attention most easily. I always talk to many Turkish friends I have to get their angles on the issues concerning Turkiye.....what they agree and disagree on etc. I don't trust most media out there on these kind of topics.

Both Bangladesh and pakistan in the end has prosecuted their hindu minorities for years. How many temples have been attacked this year alone in Bangladesh? Hindus in both these countries are in the verge of extinction but no sad tears for them. Both pakistan and Bangladesh have rising islamist parties that are held back just because of the situation and their rise to power is just a matter of time.Having a clean hand before complaining about neighbors unclean one.

Apperantly, not one so far afaik.

No one on the on the verge of extinction in BD. Numbers of Hindus has increased from 9 millions to 13 millions since 1972.

And if we were to compare all types of hard numbers for last 50 years, minorities in BD is the least prosecuted in all three countries. (That is of course not to say, there is no prosecution.)

Let's take this discussion somewhere more suitable. (If you wish to continue)
