Just watched episode 4 of the new Shogun. With the Masters of the Air being kinda average, it's easily the best historical miniseries in years. Dare I say, it might even challenge HBO's Rome by the time it finishes. Wonderful, wonderful series, with great care given to authenticity, language, customs and costumes. Easily my favorite of the last few years.
Im gonna watch this.
Not even Turkish shows or cinema can do a show like this that respects the time period.
My dad watches that trash show called Kudus Fatihi Selahattin Ayubi. Not only is just a ertugurl clone it shits on history.
Saladins powerbase was in Egypt. The dumbass show does not even replicate any parts of Egypt.
The main enemy in that trash show is a Jew who runs the crusaders as his puppets. In reality the crusaders actually massacred jews before the trip to the middle east the German crusaders and German peasants massacred jews in the Rhineland.
All the uniforms.and clothes of the time period all wrong all they did was copy paste ertugurl or the osman show.
I know they are entertainment not be taken at face value. How hard is it?
To respect the time period? Rather than anachronistic bullcrap.
Osman show even had Vikings as the enemies. The closest the Ottomans got to fighting vikings were the Eastern Roman Varangian guards since those elite troops were mainly made up of Norseman.
Then again by the time of Osman Gazi the Viking period ended most of the Vikings became their own kingdoms like Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Somehow they have the audacity to claim they work with historians.
