I was informed by political scientist friends that large poll can actually make it less accurate and that there is a sweet spot around 2000-3000 people for this instance. I don't know the exact reasoning of this from statistics but yeah.

Interesting. However, seems really counterintuitive. Usually as n increases your statistics become more precise.

If you are making random selection, sure. Maybe it's about bias of people who are willing to participate?

Polling is a science for itself. Many factors such as how they ask the questions, on the phone or in person etc make a big impact.

Just to give an example, Hillary Clinton was polling better than Trump, but Trump won because many voters or polled people didnt want to publicly announce their support for Trump.

So its going to be tight and interesting, that's for sure.

%100 guaranteed. Foreigners will vote, drafted soldiers will vote, and dead people will vote but i don't think the cheat margin can be more than %3-4 maybe %5.
