What is ruining Academia in Turkey is that state funds newly established universities far more than well-established universities.
And YÖK, and institute to regulate higher education enforces well-established universities to enroll more students at each department.

In other words: state neglects when a well established university requests a fund to build an infrastructure (say laboratory), but when a newly establish university asks for folds of the previous amount it is granted immediately just to build a campus, new buildings or a trashy laboratory.

%99 goes there to do sighseeing and never attends to the classes. :)
I can tell you stories of how quite a few turks who come to EU (Denmark) seem to be fond of pork sausages. It's difficult to connect with people like that :(

Heck even stories from people I know who has worked in the Embassy can tell of how embassy ppl were going for them in the past and even now.

Yes but meanwhile EU students benefit from classes in Turkey while they can manage to go sightseeing and attend the parties. :) :)
Well, Denmark isn't so bad in that regard small enough that you can travel from one end to another for aprox 100 TL. maybe less. Going to parties is expensive though, so they have plenty of time to study in Technical University of Denmark :)

I guess there IS a problem. It's better than nothing, but I guess they need to have transparent and fair infrastructure in Universities to avoid favoritism.
