No STR is S-band, this is X band.

Correction. STR and AIR are S-band. CFAKR is X band so STR and AIR are similar and CFAKR is different but CFAKR and AIR looks so similar from the outside.

STR S-Band 100+km artillery shells, artillery rockets, mortars.
AIR S-Band 150km specialized against low altitude, low RCS targets
CFAKR X Band 150km multi-function fire control radar.

STR is delivered AIR and CFAKR will be delivered in a short period of time.

I understand that S-400 is an alltogether package air defence but can't KORKUT + HISAR + SIPER layered air defence be enough?

Is S-400 a stopgap until we get SIPER rolling? I feel like we got kicked out the F35 program for nothing..

S-400 is an insurance policy to protect us from Western belligerency. Western military reports show that export versions of S-400's can engage F-35's in a 35 km radius. That is sufficient to protect Ankara, for example.

We did not get kicked out from program because of S-400 that was just official excuse.

Hey sorry... I'm new my previous post meant to reply to you. So i copy here also.
I remember all about t- loramids programme. It was turkish long range air defense programme. First it was given directly to raytheon for patriot missile. 1 year later we wittness from wikileaks documents. If you search through this wikileaks you can find it. The amount for patriots was never mentioned from turkish government but during an interview from Obama he mention about 8 billions dollars.
Meanwhile we have a law who prohibit to make direct purchase for such amount. So per law we have to do a tender. (This part it's important, during time defense minister has to resign and an oppenent come in charge using this argument)
Raytheon denounce to enter a tender. Russians denounce a sale of a s400 to a nato country because it's a jewel and enter with s300pmu and chinese with fd2000.
Americans oppose chinese systems and after and syria crisis appears.

You guys think a miserable air defense system will prevent the US to launch an attack ? American pilots are one of the best in the world when it comes to SEAD / DEAD missions. They will smash those S-400, (or any other air defense system) and get back to base before we even understand what happened.

The S-400 purchase over the F-35 was one of the biggest mistake Erdogan ever did. Full stop. Let’s not kid ourselves with useless conspiracy theories. The Air Force wanted that plane and this was for a good reason.

These are known things and this subject has been written and talked about a lot. It's pointless to discuss it here again, we can't learn the background of this government until it's gone. Either we shouldn't have bought it at all, or what's the point of getting the S-400 while the Samp-T is standing still? Is it because it's the most effective air defense system? It is also clear that there is no technology transfer, otherwise they would always shout.
