Mr Ismail Demir: The negotiations are in final period. We will take a foreign 1500hp engine soon and start trials with Altay.
The development of national turbodiesel engines are continuing. We will introduce a development roadway for all of them.

Beggars can't be choosers. In the meantime they have the time to improve the transmission so it last just as long as the Renks' one.very likely we are talking about the S&T Dynamics Transmission which wasn't chosen by the Korean Army because it wasn't on par with Renk´s Transmission
Excerpt from the newsAccording to Army Recognition the Engine is from South Korea
> Doosan Infracore DV27K, 4-cycle, 12-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine developing 1,500 hp.
But i would take the claim with a grain of salt because the transmission isn't mentioned at all, very likely we are talking about the S&T Dynamics Transmission which wasn't chosen by the Korean Army because it wasn't on par with Renk´s Transmission

Turkey in talks with South Korea to salvage Altay tank program
A source with knowledge of Turkey's Altay program has told Defense News that the country is negotiating with a South Korean firm in an attempt to recover the struggling project.www.defensenews.com
This cycle is hilarious
BMC is working with fiat, italian firm not with sk company to develop the indigenous powerpack, so i don't know where he got the south koreans from since batu has been in development since 2018.And again...
I know Bekdil is not reliable but here he claims to have spoken to a BMC senior official.
-BMC has reached an agreement with two South Korean companies for work on the power pack of the future indigenous Altay tank
-The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the company signed deals with Doosan and S&T Dynamics to supply the engine and transmission mechanism for the Altay.
-In order to bypass German export license restrictions, the South Korean companies will “de-Germanize” some German components in the power pack, sources familiar with the Altay program have said.
-Under the latest deals, the South Koran companies will supply the power pack and assist with its integration into the Altay. A test phase will follow, and if all goes well, the Altays may be powered by Doosan and S&T Dynamics within 18 months, the BMC official said. BMC expects to ink more definitive versions of the two deals within a couple of months.
At long last, Turkey’s Altay tank finds an engine from South Korea
The Altay program has faced delays due to a lack of access to significant components like the engine, transmission and armor.www.defensenews.com
Doesn't make much sense considering how far along in development BMC's engine is.And again...

Their engines worked but their transmission failed so they went for a mix for their own engine and German transmission. That's why i am confused is well, there is no way we get those transmissions in the first place so this looks like a lost deal is well. Unless magically the Korean transmission started working(maybe they went hybrid) in that case we can use Korean power pack. Are we talking about the very engine that the South Korean Army declined due to performance issues? Isn't this the reason why South Koreans are using German engines instead of homegrown versions? I'm confused.
