Are you sure about that? AFAIK they are separate systems and competing with each other.

The Moderators have warned some friends not to talk about political issues on these topics but I see that some of our members cannot talk about certain issues without using politics. From now on, issues related to the management of the tank-pallet factory and BMC will be discussed here. Despite all these verbal warnings, if politics can still come to a level that will disrupt the main integrity of these subject, then the thread-ban option will be activated for those who mix politics with Altay and similar sticky threads.

I understand your frustration, believe me I do. I wish I never had to discuss politics. I wish politics didn't get involved in issues concerning our national defence. But ever since 2016 there's very little technical development on this project and all that happened was political.

This thread isn't about Akkor either, in theory you should be moving those posts to a different thread about Akkor or "Turkish hardkill systems" also.

I wonder how they will handle the uplink delays if signals go by satcom (there is always a delay of some seconds)

I seriously doubt that! We are not talking only about voice data but serious amount of visual data. You have already 100 milliseconds delay when you talk with dect telephones to each other in the same room over a base station in the same room.

Perhaps 5G base stations from loitering drones could alleviate some of the delays, however - ultimately there's going to have to be some sort of assistance from software.

Delay is only related to distance, not bandwidth. There's another issue which is compression delay (to compress video for example) but there are low-latency algorithms there too which work with practically no added delay.

Distance is the least delaying as signal goes at near lightspeed, delaying is all the relay parts, base stations, satellite in-between.

Delay of signal is inevitable, you cannot have operator to remote control a tank at Realtime with zero delay.

Even with telephone (voice) transmission over a base station in one room where two callers use the same base station (base station just switches the call through without additional points in-between) you have hundreds of milliseconds delay, leave alone the huge amount of visual data.

I have worked a little more than twenty years ago at Ericsson as test engineer where I have put up a test station automatizing the test procedures of DECT (in house wireless) telephones. That's simple transmission of voice data, which is tiny compared to visual data.



So the operator who is controlling the tank from distance inside a control cabin will do that most likely by satellite connection. There will be a time delay.

One would say this will not cause a problem but everyone who drives a car knows that split seconds can avoid an accident or cause it.

IMHO a good remote controlled tank can only be achieved by Artificial Intelligence support in which most of the tasks are done by AI. Selcuk Bayraktar showed a nice vid from a control room controlling the Akinci drone, when the operator makes strange moves with the joystick the software just ignores it


PS don't mistake the control of TB2 (which is direct line of sight control without relay stations / satcom inbetween) with the control of an unmanned tank
